The senior advisor to the Pentagon of the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, resigned “amicable” after 6 months

A high -level advisor to the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, left the Pentagon after six months of service, confirmed the Defense Ministry (DOD) on Saturday to Fox News Digital.

Justin Fulcher told Fox News Digital that he had officially resigned Thursday evening, describing the decision as his own.

Fulcher said that he had initially planned to serve the government six months and, after reaching this point, chose to spend at the time “amicable”. He also underlined what he described as the “great work” done by Hegseth “for our troops and our country”.

“The Ministry of Defense is grateful to Justin Fulcher for his work on behalf of the President (Donald) Trump and Secretary Hegseth. We wish him good luck in his future efforts,” said Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell.

In addition to HegSeth advisor on staff and politics, Fulcher played a role in several defense initiatives during his mandate, he told Fox News Digital.

Fulcher said that he had contributed to the exams of the main acquisition programs to strengthen letters and the American industrial basis, and helped streamline software supply times “from years to months”, modernize key computer systems across the department.

He also said that he had supported HegSeth at high-level meetings through Indo-Pacific, including Shangri-La dialogue in Singapore, and participated in efforts that have redirected nearly 50 billion dollars of non-lethal lines in defense programs and more impactful.

Fulcher congratulated the “devoted men and women of the Ministry of Defense”, cited progress in “Revitalizing the Warrior Ethos” and “Rebuilding the Military” and thanked Hegseth and Trump for their leadership. “However, this is only the beginning,” added Fulcher.

Fulcher, who had been HegSeth’s main advisor since April, announced his departure on Saturday afternoon in a message published on X.

“As expected, I finished 6 months of service to the government in my country,” he wrote, calling “incredibly inspiring” experience.

“None of this could have occurred without the decisive leadership of Secretary Hegseth or the continuing confidence of President Trump in our team,” he wrote. “I will continue to defend American fighters in all future efforts.”

Fulcher joined the DOD earlier this year as part of the Inner Circle of Hegseth, a cohort of faithful advisers appointed after Hegseth took the bar at the Pentagon during Trump’s second term.

His departure comes in the middle of a broader reshuffle of superior staff inside the HegSeth office. At least six assistants have left since January, although defense officials have minimized movements as standard transitions.

We do not know what will be the next step to fulcher, although his declaration suggests that he intends to remain active in national security circles.

The Pentagon has not yet appointed a replacement.
