The Republican leaders of the Senate weigh, if it is necessary to cancel or shorten, their next break in August following the request of President Donald Trump to stay in the city and finish his exceptional candidates.
Over the past six months, the Senate has moved to a frantic pace to confirm the president’s candidates while facing the resistance of the Democrats in the Senate. So far, 96 Trump’s candidates have been confirmed. However, there are 136 exceptional nominations on the Upper room calendar which did not reach the finish line.
Year after year, legislators generally escape hill throughout the month of August, either recovering months in Washington, DC, or by selling their legislative achievements to people at home.

But Trump called the head of majority on Sunday in the Senate John ThuneRS.D., to keep the legislators in the city to finish their work on the confirmation of his slew of exceptional candidates.
“Hopefully the very talented John Thune, fresh out of our many victories in the past two weeks and, in fact, 6 months, will cancel the recess of August (and long weekends!), In order to confirm my incredible nominees,” said Trump on his social social media platform. “We really need them !!! DJT”

Thune said that he had spoken to the president of the question of recess in August, but did not say if the whole break would be canceled. A Senior GOP assistant told Fox News Digital that discussions on the shortening of the August recreation already occurred before Trump’s request.
“We think about it,” said Thune. “We want to get as many names through the pipeline as possible. And honestly, it would be good to have Democrats who would act in a way depending on the previous historical with regard to this.”
The remaining points that must be fulfilled have crossed almost all the facets of the federal government, including the posts at the Ministry of Defense, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Departmental Trade and a multitude of ambassadors, among others.

Among the remaining nominees, there are familiar faces of the 2024 elections and beyond, including Hung Cao, who ran against Senator Tim Kaine, D-VA., And was appointed under-secretary of the navy; Donald Trump Jr. The former fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was used to be an American ambassador to Greece, and the former representative Marc Molinaro, RN.Y., who was appointed federal administrator in transit.

Thune has accused the Democrats of the Senate of being an obstructionist and noted that so far, no candidate has been approved by the accelerated voting vote or unanimous consent processes. Indeed, each candidate was submitted to a ground vote. Only Secretary of State Marco Rubio received an almost unanimous vote, 99 to 0.
Earlier this year, the head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., supported the delay of all the presidents of the president who have no unanimous support in the upper room, actually triggering floor votes for everyone. He also used a procedural decision of the Senate of the Senate to block federal prosecutors on a committee.
“This is something we are very attached to, and we will examine all the options in the coming weeks to try to get as much the finish line as possible,” said Thune.
