The judge’s orders stop at the dismantling of IML

We have to take our WS when we get them, friends. Direction in favor of the 21st -law attorney general, the judge of the Rhode ISLAND JOHN J. McConnell Jr. District Court. ordered the presidential decree to dismantle the IMLS (Institute of Sciences of the Museum and Libraries) and two other federal agencies. The order obliges the defendants to arrest all the efforts to eradicate the IML, oblige them to restore the employees and the entrepreneurs who have been involuntarily dismissed or placed on leave, and resume the treatment and payment of the financing already rewarded. This is good news for many reasons, especially for the tribal communities at risk of losing their libraries Due to the subsidies canceled under the decree. Make no mistake, however, a lot of irreparable damage has already been caused. Chaos and cruelty are the point.

Call swifies, there is a new Booktok conspiracy

Stop me if you have heard this one: a first novel becomes viral on Booktok, and a lack of information on the author has encouraged Theories of speculation and conspiracy of readers. Here is the agreement: the coverage of Silver elite By Dani Francis does not have an author’s photo. Neither did Francis’s Instagram page. The absence of details has pushed certain book creators to speculate that Dani Francis is actually a pen name for an established author. Or maybe the book written by AI! Why would the publisher care the edges of aluminum foil and special editions if it was not secretly written by someone who is already famous? As in most controversies tinged with conspiracy, the truth is almost guaranteed to be much less exciting than theories. (Have we really learned nothing THE Argyl width?) When the most interesting thing about a book is the anonymity of the author, it is time for the publication and the readers to take a good look in the mirror.

How Taylor Jenkins Reid reached the escape speed

If the pre-pub press the new novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid AtmosphereDue to June 3, is any indication, we are taking a look. In a large -scale profile at TIMEJenkins Reid discusses the surreality of becoming an apparent success overnight on his fifth book, the tension between celebrating commercial success and wanting to praise criticism, the economy of publishing, and (this one for me) the musical of Jukebox Chicks on which she works with a longtime friend. “Writing an easy -to -read book,” says Reid, “is extremely difficult. She must think about the reader’s experience on each page. “I continue a feeling,” she said. “It may not matter if I am fanciful. Maybe I’m just fun. »»

It is refreshing to see an author express an understanding based on where their work is in the broader ecosystem of books and reading without denigrating other writers, genres or styles. More like that, please.

A fantastic novel for all those who feel betrayed by JK Rowling

I can’t imagine someone more qualified than Danika Ellis to make this statement, so I’m going to let her make herself:

Now that I’m finished, I can say that it was a five -star reading that keeps it absolutely, whatever the response to the Harry Potter series and JK Rowling’s transphobia – but it also succeeds at this level. Where this series concerns children, this book concerns adults who discover their magic. Instead of Hogwarts, the setting is New York. And, of course, this star of the main characters trans.

If you want to read a fantastic novel about a Coven of Trans Witches taking an evil AI, it is for you.
