An official of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who posted his letter of resignation on social networks used the term “pregnant people” and capped his missive by including “Il / his” pronouns after his name.

“I write to officially resign from my post of director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in force on August 28, 2025, closure of business,” wrote Dr. Demetre Daskalakis in long job on X.

Daskalakis accused the administration of President Donald Trump of attempt to “erase transgender populations”.

“I am unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to injure rather than to improve public health,” he wrote.

“I hope that the CDC continued to succeed in its vital mission and that HHS reverses its dangerous course to dismantle public health as a practice and as an institution. If they continue the current path, they risk our personal well-being and the security of the United States,” concluded Daskalakis at the end of his message.
