The report of the State Department calls for the dismantling of UNRWA on Hamas, October 7

The US State Department has published a devastating report to the congress on the United Nations Terrorism Rescue and Work Agency (UNRWA) which provides aid to the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip, determining that the agency must be abolished and is beyond the reform.

According to a public assessment of the American State Department at the Congress which was obtained independently by Fox News Digital, “the administration has determined that UNRWA is irreparably compromised and is now looking for its complete dismantling”.

According to the Department of State Department, the Trump administration demanded in March 2025 that UNRWA “returns all the remaining non -spent balances of American financing in its accounts”. The UNRWA Washington office said it would, “but has not yet finished the action.” In May, the State Department declared that it worked “to stop the participation of us in all the organs of UNRWA of work” in the United Nations.

The Washington Free Beacon first announced the news of the report of the State Department.

The American government disconnected the funding of UNRWA in January 2024 and did not resume aid to the agency marked by corruption. The move of the Secretary of State Marco Rubio calling for the wholesale dissolution of UNRWA adds a new layer of pressure on the UN and the main donation nations to UNRWA (Japan and Germany) to reassess the viability of UNRWA.

The Biden administration had enabled UNRWA $ 1 billion in American taxpayers for 2021 before the entry into force of the 2024 frost.

Former Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, said in February 2024 that dozens of people employed by UNRWA were directly involved in the atrocities against Israeli civilians on October 7.

The Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon told the UN in January that UNRWA had to close its operations in Jerusalem.

In August 2024, Fox News Digital noted that the UN had dismissed nine UNRWA employees who probably participated in the Hamas massacre of 1,200 people, including more than 30 Americans, on October 7 in southern Israel.

The Knesset (Parliament) of Israel has massively prohibited UNRWA because of its support reported to the terrorism of Hamas. The United States has classified Hamas as a foreign terrorist organization. Israel, American legislators and surveillance organizations have also provided evidence to the UN over the years that UNRWA has glorified Palestinian terrorism and anti -Semitism.
