The future of the acting United States prosecutor Alina Habba as the main prosecutor in New Jersey was pushed into uncertainty on Tuesday after the district court judges voted against maintenance in the role and the Ministry of Justice of Trump (DoJ) quickly moved to dismiss his replacement.
The 120 -day Habba mandate expires this week, giving judges the power to vote to extend your mandate or choose a new American lawyer.
The New Jersey judges’ bench, most of whom were appointed by Democratic presidents, revealed on Tuesday that they had voted to replace Habba by Desiree Grace, a career prosecutor and the best assistant of Habba. The Attorney General Pam Bondi said that Grace’s dismissal should point out that the DoJ “does not tolerate the thugs judges – in particular when they threaten the main powers of the president of article II”.

Habba, who was a personal lawyer for President Donald Trump and legal spokesperson during his campaign, aroused controversy shortly after arriving at the lawyer.
She had the Democrat mayor of Newark arrested, Ras Baraka, in May for allegedly intrusion into a detention center for immigration. But Habba quickly dropped the charges, and a judge scolded him for the move, suggesting that she was trying to “satisfy public clamor”. Baraka now continues Habba for defamation.

Habba has a difficult path to the Senate confirmation after the two Democratic Senators of New Jersey, Cory Booker and Andy Kim, refused to give it favorable recommendations as part of the “Blue Slip” tradition of the Senate. Courtesy can be ignored by the Senate, but this is rare.

“I respect the decision of the district court today to exercise its power to appoint a new American lawyer for the district of New Jersey and to congratulate Desiree Grace, who has been a prosecutor at the office since 2016, for his appointment,” wrote Booker on X, adding that the new Jerseyans deserve a lawyer “who will apply the law without fear or his favor”.

Vice-procurer General Todd Blanche defended Habba in a statement on Tuesday, saying that the judges of the New Jersey district court “tried to force” Habba early and that his mandate did not end until Friday.
“Their precipitation reveals what it was still: a leftist program, not the rule of law,” said Blanche. “When judges act as activists, they undermine confidence in our judicial system. Alina is the choice of President Trump to lead – and no partisan bench can prevail.”
