EXCLUSIVE – The president of the National Democratic Committee (DNC), Ken Martin, challenges the mail thrust by the Republicans to try to anchor Zohran Mamdani to the vulnerable democrats who present themselves in the elections of next year.
Asked about the 33 -year -old socialist democratic candidate who was amazing the political world last month by capturing the appointment to the town hall of the Democratic Party in New York, the president of the National Republican Committee (RNC), Michael Whatley, said that Mamdani “is the face of the New Democratic Party”. But Martin, in an exclusive national interview with Fox News Digital on Wednesday, postponed.
“It’s simply ridiculous. We have many faces of the Democratic Party throughout the country,” said Martin.

He then listed well -known party leaders, including governments. Gavin Newsom from California, Josh Shapiro de Pennsylvania, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Tim Walz of Minnesota and Andy Beshear of Kentucky, as well as Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont (an independent who is part of the leadership of the Senate Democrats), and the Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez de New York.
Republicans tirelessly use Mamdani as a “socialist” cake to hit vulnerable democrats
Mamdani, an assembly of state of Ugandan origin of the New York district, of Queens, drew national attention after dominating the former governor Andrew Cuomo and nine other candidates last month in the Democratic primary, taking a big step to become the first Muslim and first millennial mayor of the most popular city in the country. The Republicans now consider him a source of ammunition because they aim to represent Democrats as distant radicals.
“Everyone who wants to direct this party want to drive him to the left … They are moving away from the American public right now to a fairly fast clip,” said Whatley.
But Martin pointed out that “the Democratic Party is a big party in the tent. We have conservative democrats, we have centrist democrats, we have progressives and we have these leftists”.
“We want everyone to be in this party. And you know, who includes Zohran Mamdani, who includes other people from all sides of the ideological spectrum,” added Martin.
Martin, who was elected in early February as a new president of DNC, said: “It is the difference … between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The Republicans expect people to walk. If there is a dissent, they have drawn from the party. They are pushed back from the party. I reject this type of leadership.”
Meanwhile, Mamdani gave Republicans a lot of fodder to use to go to the offensive.
He proposed to eliminate the prices to set up the vast New York bus system, making CUNY (City University of New York) rents, freezing rents on municipal housing, offering “free daycares” for children until the age of 5 and the establishment of grocery stores managed by the government.
Trump says NYC faces disastrous consequences if “communist” Mamdani becomes mayor
Republicans have used recent viral videos from Mamdani in their attacks. They include a photo of 2020 that Mamdani published online which shows him to overthrow a statue of Christopher Columbus, stories about the comments that Mamdani made last December when he declared that the mayor he would stop Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his recent comments in a cable press interview in which he said “I criticized” I criticized capitalism “.
Mamdani’s comments on Israel also caused controversy, including its resistance during the main campaign to condemn the expression “globalizing intifada”, which is considered by many people as an appeal to violence against the Jewish people.

“I said very clearly, I reject any speech of hatred in our party. I will always call anti -Semitism when I see it, Islamophobia when I see it, homophobia, when I see it. There is no space or neighborhood within the Democratic Party for this type of speech,” said Martin when asked by Fox News if any of Mamdani.
“‘Globalize the intifada”, of course, it is a call to encourage violence, and we are all responsible for rejecting this, and I will, “he added.

Martin, a former president of the Minnesota Democratic Party, noted that he was back home recently to attend the funeral of a former president of the Minnesota Chamber and her husband, who were shot in their homes.
The president of the DNC, who called the two people killed “very close friends”, said, “they have been murdered because of their political convictions. And we have a responsibility at the moment, I think, the leaders of one or the other of the parties, and frankly, of the leaders of any organization in this country, when we see this type of rhetorical and hatred discourse that incites people to the violence, time.”
