The president of the National Council of the border patrol, Paul Perez, criticized the proposal for a “visible law” supported by the Democrat at the Congress which would oblige the federal immigration authorities to present a clear identification and to prevent them from carrying facials in circumstances accessible to the public.

“Deaf policy, especially after law enforcement agents were specifically targeted,” Perez told Fox News Digital in an interview.

“What they would like to see is that our agents are killed because there is absolutely no reason why you need a policy that forces our agents to identify in public because everyone has a camera so that they can be Doxxed and attacked,” he said, also adding a risk to the families of the officers.

“It is crazy to create a policy. You rely on people who cannot even vote for you. You know, you protect illegal immigrants who do not have the right to be in this country, and you sacrifice the honorable agents of the law application,” he continued, saying that agents are responsible for enforcing laws that the Congress has implemented.

“”Our agents will never be afraid. They know the work for which they have registered. But what they don’t like, what we don’t want is target, “he said.

ICE agents experienced a 700% increase in attacks from the same period in 2024, and recent demonstrations and riots aroused serious concerns about the security of the police while they increase deportation and other immigration operations.

Democrats have said that the visible law, which means “identification standards visible for immigration -based police”, is a necessary degree of responsibility for agents in the midst of a major change in immigration policy under the Trump administration. The bill is co -pacarrained by 13 other Democratic senators: Tammy Duckworth, Adam Schiff, Tina Smith, Peter Welch, Andy Kim, Patty Murray, Ron Wyden, Elissa Slotkin, Amy Klobuchar, Chris Van Hollen, Mazie Hirono, Gary Peters and Richard Blumenthal.

“When federal immigration agents present themselves and withdraw someone from the street in civilian clothes with their obscured face and without visible identification, that only aggravates tensions and spreading fear while protecting federal agents from basic responsibility,” said senator Alex Padilla, D-Calif., In a press release in support of the bill, which he heads with the New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker.

“Immigration agents should be required to show their agency and their number number or number of badge – just like the police and other local law enforcement organizations. The common sense requirements of the visible law will restore transparency and guarantee that imitators cannot exploit the panic and confusion caused by unidentifiable federal agents”, continued the democrat.

“Well, I’m going to leave this to the Congress to decide,” Governor Democrat Katie Hobbs said on Thursday at Fox News Digital at a press conference in Phoenix when he asked his position on the federal bill.

“I can tell you that I had conversations, and I understand the concerns of people about masked agents. But I had conversations with the leadership here at (Arizona Department of Public Safety) and there are certainly circumstances where for the security of officers, they could have masked officers in a situation. I trust our state leadership to make the right decisions in these circumstances. Hobbs.

Other states, such as Massachusetts and California, have asked legislators to present similar ideas, but were probably faced with constitutional obstacles, as this would regulate the federal authorities.
