The Polish skier becomes the first person to ski Mont Everest without oxygen

A mountaineer marked history by becoming the first person to ski Everest without using additional oxygen, the shipping organizers confirmed on Thursday.

The realization of the Polish national Andrzej Bargie is also praised as a historic moment in the world of extreme endurance sports.

Bargiel, 37, revised the highest peak in the world at 29,032 feet on September 22 before putting his skis and starting his big descent.

“I am at the top of the highest mountain in the world, and I will go down it on skis,” said Bargies in a video published on his Instagram page before leaving the Snowy Summer.

According to AFPSeven Summit Treks, the expedition of bargia of bargia, based in Nepal, confirmed that his descent was the first of its kind.

“It was extremely difficult, and no one had already done it,” said Chhang Dawa Sherpa of Seven Summit Treks to AFP.

Bargie also spent nearly 16 hours in the so-called “death zone” above 8,000 meters, where oxygen levels are dangerously low and survival is difficult without bottled air.

When he reached the base camp, Bargie was welcomed with a khada, a ceremonial Buddhist scarf, in recognition of his success.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk celebrated the accomplishment on X, writing: “Heaven is the limit? Not for the posts! Andrzej Bargies comes from skiing Mont Everest.”

Bargie would not be foreign to the first at high altitude. In 2018, he became the first person to ski on the K2 of Pakistan, the second highest mountain in the world, a feat of BBC News was dedicated to the centenary of Poland which regrets independence.

He also attempted Everest in 2019 and again in 2022, but was thwarted by unstable ice cream and strong winds.
