The cousin of a firefighter who died on September 11 took a veiled blow to the candidate of the town hall of New York Zohran Mamdani during a birthday ceremony on Thursday in Manhattan for his refusal to condemn the slogan “globalizing the intifada”.
Mike Weinstein, 61, honored his cousin, Stephen Belson, a veteran firefighter who lost his life while working to save people blocked in the southern Tower of the World Trade Center.
Weinstein called on all politicians to give up terror and violence, and said that they “invite another September 11” if they refuse to do so and choose not to condemn sentences like “globalize the intifada”.
Zohran Mamdani says he will discourage the sentence “ globalizing the intifada ”

“I know that my cousin Steve and many, many others would agree with me when I say, let’s continue to press all politicians, including those who have already returned home, to firmly renounce terrorism and violence,” he said. “When political candidates and civil servants refuse to condemn world terror and sentences such as” Globalize The Itifada “, they invite another September 11, God preserves us, and they continue to scare daily for all New Yorkers.”
“Enough. Enough, that’s enough,” he continued. “Twenty -four years later, we need all political candidates, including every future potential mayor – and you know who I speak of – this big city to denounce terror and unite as New Yorkers who love freedom. May God bless America, the land of the free and the courageous house.”
“Globalize The Intifada” is an anti -Zionist slogan calling for international support for the Palestinian resistance against Israel which has been criticized as an appeal to violence against Israelis and Jews.

Mamdani refused to condemn the sentence throughout his campaign for the appointment to the mayor of the Democratic Party, which he obtained in June, although he reaffirmed earlier this week that he “discouraged” this language.
He suggested that his position had moved after talking about Jewish leaders and learned the gap between the slogan’s intention and its harmful impact on many Jewish New Yorkers.

Mamdani declared earlier this summer that the sentence shows “a desperate desire for equality and equality of rights to defend Palestinian human rights”, but then clarified in the middle of the backlash that it is “not a language that I use”.
“The language I use and the language that I will continue to use to direct this city is that which clearly speaks of my intention, which is an intention based on a belief in universal human rights,” said Mamdani during an appearance on NBC.
