A New Jersey Republican proposed legislation to change the Bay of Delaware to “New Jersey Bay”, seeming to be inspired by the executive order of President Donald Trump changing the Gulf of Mexico to the American Gulf.

The measure, introduced Thursday by the senator of the state of the GOP Michael Testa, would order the agencies of the State to use “the Bay of the New Jersey” in the publications, the signaling, the websites and the documents to reflect the new designation and inform the relevant federal entities, Nj.com reported.

“I look at the robust fishing industry-the commercial fishing industry and the recreational industry of the New Jersey state,” he said at the point of sale. “I think the fact that we have to call the bay that we are fishing in the Bay of Delaware – they claimed so long.”

Testa represents the County of Cape May, that the Borders of the Bay.

“It’s time to make New Jersey again great!” Testa wrote on X.

The bay is a vital water body for tourism, trade and travel of New Jersey which has been named after its southern neighbor since 1610, according to the website of the Government of Delaware, and was appointed according to the third Baron de la Warr, Thomas West, which ruled the colony of Virginie.

The proposed legislation comes after Trump signed an order in January to rename the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico in the Gulf of America. The body of water has shared boundaries between the United States and Mexico, and the order of Trump only bears authority in the United States

Last month, the Republicans of the American Chamber adopted the law of the Golfe of America, marking the first stage in the codification of the order of Trump in the United States, the legislation is now awaiting consideration in the Senate.

Trump’s order also prompted the governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, a democrat, to joke the modification of the sound of Long Island to “Connecticut Sound”.

“While the cards are changing, here is an idea,” published Lamont on X in February, marking the governor of the Democrat of New York Kathy Hochul with a modified card with renowned sound.
