He was assigned to testify on July 16 after refusing to appear before the committee investigating the alleged concealment of the mental decline of Biden, which argued that the executive privilege did not apply to him.

According to the book, Bernal accused Anita Dunn, a veteran political strategist democratic which served in the administrations of Biden and Obama, of being unfair to put pressure for more transparency with regard to the Biden family.

There was an “almost total ban” to discuss Hunter Biden, journalists wrote in their new book, while the federal trial of Hunter fell in the middle of the re -election campaign of his father in June 2024.

Jill Biden, with Bernal by his side, tried to attend the federal trial of Hunter Biden, often traveling long distances from trips abroad or campaign events.

He was often not clear if the opinion he expressed was his or the first lady. Sometimes, when donors or voters asked him questions, Bernal would jump to answer,” said the authors.

Just as Jill jill jumped Hunter’s defense during her high -level trial, she became the president’s greatest supporter following her disastrous debate performance against President Donald Trump.

“Joe is not only the right person for the position,” said the First Lady during a fundraising shortly after the debate. “He’s the only person for work.”

The book alleys that Jill Biden had always played the “role of the protective spouse, encouraging the president to eat vegetables, keeping him in time and questioning the staff members when she felt having made a mistake.”

In one of these cases in January 2022, aid from Biden apologized to the First Lady when she asked why they allowed a press conference to continue for too long, according to the book.

While Biden had a hard time defending his debate performance, with donors and more and more tired Democratic politicians, and “her husband in the struggle of his political life, Jill did clearly: the Democratic Party had to stick to Joe,” said the authors.

After the debate, the Bidens made a pre-Planified family trip to Camp David.

“The president does not entertain the idea of abandoning the race; he took stock of the gravity of things,” the authors told Biden’s trip to Camp David.
