The NATO chief praises Trump as “the man of force” after the nuclear strikes of Iran

President Donald Trump was praised at the NATO 2025 summit after the United States struck Iran’s nuclear installations over the weekend. NATO secretary general, Mark Rutte, congratulated Trump as a “man of force” and a “man of peace”.
“I just want to recognize your decisive action on Iran,” said Rutte at the start of his joint remarks with the president. “You are a man of force, but you are also a man of peace. And the fact that you are now able to do this cease-fire between Israel and Iran-I really want to congratulate you for that. I think it’s important for the whole world.”

While on the road to the Netherlands for the summit, Trump shared several Rutte texts in which the NATO chief expressed support for the president’s decision against Iran.

Rutte also welcomed Trump’s efforts to bring NATO members to pay more and said that the president “flew in another great success” after all countries – with the exception of Spain, were devoted to 5% of their GDP in defense. He added that Trump had obtained something “no American president for decades could be done”.
NATO member states have had mixed reactions to strikes against Iran’s nuclear installations, several calls for de -escalation while recognizing the threat that a nuclear Iran would represent for global security.
