The Mount Lewotobi volcano in Indonesia bursts for the second consecutive day

For the second consecutive day, one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, broke out.

The explosion launched a chronicle of smoke and volcanic material up to 11 miles in the sky early Saturday morning. Debris of villages covered with the volcano, but no victim has been reported. The explosion was one of the most important in the country since the eruption of Mount Merapi in 2010, the country’s most volatile volcano.

Friday, in an eruption which occurred a few hours before Saturday morning, the smoke and the ashes went up to 6.2 miles, while the volcano lit the sky with brilliant lava and lightning bolts.

The geology agency of Indonesia has recorded an avalanche of burning gas clouds mixed with rocks and lava traveling up to 3 miles on the slopes of the mountain. Drone observations have shown a deep magma movement, triggering tremors that have registered on seismic monitors.

The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii broke out with a “lava fountain” of 1,000 feet

Volcanic materials, including hot gravel and thumb, were thrown 5 miles from the crater, covering the villages and cities nearby with thick volcanic residues, the agency said. He asked residents to be vigilant on strong precipitation that could trigger lava flows in rivers from the volcano.

Lewotobi Laki Laki has been the highest alert since the 5197 feet volcano broke out in June, and the exclusion zone was doubled at a radius of 4.3 miles due to more frequent eruptions.

Indonesia is home to 280 million people and has 120 active volcanoes. It is located along the “Ring of Fire”, an iron -shaped series of seismic flaws surrounding the Pacific basin.
