Despite the previous media noting that the Trump administration is open to allowing Iran to continue its uranium enrichment program, potentially allowing the development of Iranian nuclear weapons, President Donald Trump has taken a solid position on the issue, stating several times that it would not allow the country to develop nuclear weapons.

Axios reported earlier This month, as part of an agreement to facilitate the American sanctions offered to Iran by the envoy of the White House, Steve Witkoff, “would allow a limited enrichment of low level uranium on Iranian soil for a period of time to be determined.” It was something that the point of sale said risked reaction to the Trump allies on Capitol Hill and Israel.

Shortly after the story of Axios, Trump posted on Truth Social that “under our potential agreement – we will not allow any enrichment of uranium!”

The PA reported that Trump’s message “seemed to undermine a proposal that had been offered” by his administration and that Witkoff and the President “have offered incoherent public messages several times on the question of whether Iran would be authorized to keep the ability to enrich uranium at levels lower than civil ends”.

Trump, however, has always said that he would in no way allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.

Dating from 2011, Trump faced the record expressing his conviction that Iran should not have access to nuclear weapons in three dozen times.

As soon as his 2011 book “Time to Getter” said: “The main objective of America with Iran must be to destroy its nuclear ambitions. Allow me to put them as clearly as I know: Iran’s nuclear program must be stopped by all the necessary means. We cannot allow this radical regime to acquire a nuclear weapon that they will use or put back terrorists.”

He also clearly indicated his position according to which Iran should not even be authorized to develop nuclear weapons more, affirming in a 2011 tweet that “the Iranian nuclear program must be arrested – by all the necessary means”.

Then, after announcing his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump criticized President Barack Obama for negotiating “a disastrous agreement with Iran”, saying: “Iran cannot be authorized to have a nuclear weapon and, under a Trump administration, will never be authorized to have a nuclear weapon”.

Again, in 2017, Trump was quoted by NPR saying: “We will deny the regime all paths towards a nuclear weapon.”

On the 2024 campaign path, Trump has repeatedly said that the nuclear power is “the greatest risk that we have”. In an interview with Patrick Bet -David “the real threat is not global warming. The real threat is – the threat is nuclear warming”.

Referring to Iran, he said: “They are very close to having a nuclear weapon” and “I wanted Iran to succeed very well. I just don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon”.

“They cannot have a nuclear weapon. And now they are very close to having one, and it is very dangerous for the world, very dangerous for the world. I mean, the biggest-the biggest problem today, in my opinion, the biggest risk is nuclear weapons, weapons. It is so powerful today,” he said during a campaign gathering in Milwaukee in October.

Iran said on several occasions that it would not accept a ban on enrichment of uranium, arguing that it had the right to the process, which is also vital for nuclear energy. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reiterated this point in a press conference in Egypt and, according to the Tasnim news agency, said that he was planning to respond soon to the American proposal.
