The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, delays the post-action report on the fire of Palisades until the ongoing federal investigation on the cause is over.

According to Bass, the delay is the result of the office of the American prosecutor asking that city leaders temporarily postpone his release as an alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives are continuing his investigation.

Some community groups have criticized the delay, arguing that residents deserve answers on the city’s response even if the federal investigation continues.

Under the Californian law, local governments are required to provide after action following all the disasters declared. The American lawyer’s office is investigating to identify what caused the historic fire in January.

The Emergency Services Act indicates that the Office of Emergency Services will work with state and local agencies to report within 180 days of each declared disaster.

City officials provide for the response related to the response, referring to the content of the report bearing legal and financial consequences for Los Angeles.

Sources close to the mayor told Fox News Digital that the report will partly contain information on the city’s resources and how they were used after the start of the fire.

They also declared that the mayor was apparently impatient to comply with the request to delay the release.

A statement published by Bass on Tuesday noted that the delay was to avoid interfere with the federal investigation and that it is released as soon as the DoJ completed its investigation.

“According to state regulations (California Code of Regulations, title 19, § 2450), the city of Los Angeles is required to complete a report after action concerning the fire of palisades. At the end of last week, the United States prosecutor’s office for the California central district requested that the report be held to avoid interference with federal coordination.
