Virginie Kim Taylor Death Menspect delegate arrested by police

A delegate from the state of Virginia who made waves with his upset victory in a deep blue district faced a threat of credible death on Thursday.

The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Bureau quickly arrested a suspect accused of having sent SMS to a campaign manager with threats to kill DEL. Kim Taylor, R-Petersburg.

A Dinwiddie officer said Mercury by Virginia This suspect Michael Ray Strawmyer, 33, of Dewitt, Virginie, was in detention before Thursday evening. He is currently detained in the Correctional Center of the Meherrin River near South Hill.

“I’m safe and I’m fine,” said Taylor on Thursday evening. “Recognizing for the rapid action of the application of laws.”

Campaign spokesperson Jacklyn Washington added that “no threat distracts her from the job she was elected.”

“Earlier in the day, delegate Kim Taylor received a death threat to political motivation by a text message in his campaign. Our campaign takes each threat seriously and that was no exception,” said Washington.

A source familiar with the situation told Fox News Digital that the suspect said that Taylor “ruined the country” while seeing the Republicans.

Virginia officials on both sides of the aisle came out to condemn the threat:

“Political violence is never the answer. Thank you to our law enforcement agents for your rapid action and your support for Kim Taylor,” said Virginie Lieutenant Winle-Sears, the GOP candidate for the governor.

Former Abigail Spanberger representative – the Democratic candidate – added that she was “horrified to hear about the death threat against delegate Kim Taylor”.

“I am relieved to learn that the suspect is now in detention,” she added on social networks. “I am grateful to our local police who worked quickly in this case.”

Taylor, a bodywork owner, shocked the state when she now defeated Sen. Laschrecse Aird, D-Petersburg, of around 500 votes in 2021. She was re-elected in 2023 by a margin of 53 even narrower vote on Kimberly Pope Adams.
