Blackburn has just won his re -election for his second term in the American Senate in the November 2024 cycle.
If she presented herself for the governor and won, Blackburn should leave her seat – setting up a potential vacuum cleaner in the volunteer state.
The law of Tennessee grants the governor the possibility of appointing someone to fill the vacancies of the Senate until the next regular election.
This means that if Blackburn leaves by 2026, his successor would be exploited to serve until 2031.

Ogles and Burchett said they would be interested in presenting themselves for the seat in the 2030 electoral cycle if they were appointed to the upper room.
But it could very well be in Blackburn to choose his successor, depending on the moment when she has hypothetically resigned from the Senate.
The law of the state of Tennessee does not specify when it must withdraw from the Senate, according to the local point of sale Knox News.
If the vacancy occurred before Blackburn resigned, the decision would probably fall to the governor limited to Bill Lee terms. But Lee could leave the decision to Blackburn if she resigned after being sworn to take her place.

His candidacy sets up a primary of the GOP with high issues against his colleague from Congress, representative John Rose.
If she wins, Blackburn would be the first woman governor of Tennessee.
