First on Fox: A republican member of the House of Representatives sounds the alarm on the consequences that the government closure could have on the army.

Representative Brian Mast, R-Fla., Sent a letter to the Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Wednesday by describing the concerns raised to him concerning the military and women approaching the end of temporary assignments, who are generally orders focused on tasks, tasks, training or support at specific time. Due to the closure, they are forced to return to their original units before completing their assigned tasks.

Mast, a veteran himself who lost his two legs during his service, said that the news was worrying if it is actually true, because the costs associated with a service member compared to a temporary assignment can vary from $ 178 per day, to more than $ 1,000 per day for others.

“It is an irresponsible waste of dollars of taxpayers and a bad service to our troops and the general preparation,” wrote Mast in the letter.

“Talk about lighting on fire,” added the Congress member in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Not only does this democratic closure waste the dollars of taxpayers, but it wasted the time of our soldiers.”

The government closed its doors on Tuesday at midnight, after the Republicans and Democrats failed to reach a consensus on a set of federal credits necessary to maintain the open and funded government.

Both sides point their finger to have caused the closure, which is the first in seven years after a closure in 2018 which lasted 35 days.

The leader of the Democratic Party in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, accused the Republicans of forcing the closure because they do not want to “protect the health care of the Americans” via an extension of Obamacare subsidies that Democrats are demanding. Most Republicans oppose extension, citing the concerns that the extension would result in a massive increase in health care funded by taxpayers for immigrants who illegally enter the country.

Meanwhile, the best Republicans explode Schumer for having made politics, arguing that he is looking for political coverage from the distant corner to the left of his party in the middle of the speculation that he could face a progressive challenger, like the representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Dn.y., when he returns for the re-election.
