President Donald Trump and his allies in Congress strive to consolidate his grip on Washington, DC
An executive assistant told Fox News Digital Tuesday that the Républicains de la Chambre work with the White House on a bunch of bills “to resolve the many DC governance and crime problems”.
On Wednesday, Trump confirmed that the effort in a social post at the end of the evening said that the leaders of the Chamber and the Senate “work with me, and other Republicans, on a full bill on crime”.
“This is what our country needs, and now to follow,” said Trump.

Meanwhile, the Allies of the Gop Trump house worked on various measures to extend the president’s grip on the DC police, another source told Fox News Digital that the White House followed.
Under the District of Columbia Home Rule Act of 1973, which, among other measures, established a local government for the national capital, the president is authorized to federate the DC police forces for a period of 48 hours, although it can extend to 30 days with a notification to the concerned committees of the Congress.
Any longer period must be authorized via a resolution adopted in the House and the Senate – several of which have already been offered while the legislators are back on their lawns for the annual recess of August.
The law does not limit how long Trump can deploy federal forces in the capital, however – which he has also done.
The representative Andy Ogles, R-Tenn, was the first to announce that he was working on a bill “to modify the DC Home Rule Act, so that the president can extend this emergency as long as she takes, until our capitol is taken up, and its streets are safe” on August 13.
He told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that the management of the GOP in the House seemed positive on his bill.

“I sent him to the (head of the majority of the Steve Scalie, R-La.) After writing it,” said Ogles. “He liked the proposal, so when we come back, we will sort the different ideas and approaches and see which one is the best. Obviously, I will plead for mine, but … everything that ensures people.”
Ogles stressed that his bill, while getting rid of the 30 -day limit, also requires that the White House informs the congress every 30 days of the droidal federalization of the DC police because “we always have a constitution that we must respect”.
The SCALISE Office did not address Ogles’ bill when it is reached by Fox News Digital.
Others, such as representatives Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., And Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., Introduced similar invoices.
“I think there is a lot of support for my bill, or a version,” Luna told Fox News Digital. “The fact is that, you know, we have a domicile rule. It is good in our right and our authority. And frankly, we do it not only for us, but also for real civilians in the Washington region, DC,.”
Luna’s bill, like Ogles, is expanding Trump’s ability to federate DC police for as long as the president deems it necessary.

Bigg’s bill would extend Trump on DC police for a period of six months.
Because DC is a federal district, not a state, the congress and the federal government are able to exercise significant quantities of control over various aspects of the way it is managed.

The allies of the White House and Trump praised a significant decrease in DC homicides since Trump took control of the police in the city, while signaling that other American cities could soon see the intervention of the federal government to also treat crime.
Opponents of this largely democratic decision accused the Trump administration of having waged autonomy from those who live in the national capital.
A White House official told Fox News Digital when he was asked for more information: “The efforts to process some of the underlying causes of the DC crime problem will be a subject of sustained concentration for administration, as well as other problems, such as maintenance, transport and embellishment.”
“This understands working with all levels of the government, the executive branch, the legislative branch and Washington, DC, to ensure that the capital of the largest nation in the world is the desire for the world,” said the official.
