Republican legislators accuse democrats of making politics in relation to a resolution in honor of the “life and inheritance” of Charlie Kirk, who passed the house according to bipartite lines last week.

Friday vote divided the Democrats – 95 voted to approve the measure, 58 voted in the opposition, 38 voted “present” and 22 did not vote.

The Republicans of the Chamber hammered these 58, and several stressed that the fractured vote was very different from a previous resolution condemning an attack on the legislators of the Minnesota State which were killed earlier this year.

This resolution adopted the Chamber in a unanimous vote 424-0 at the end of June.

“In June, the House Republicans voted unanimously to condemn attacks against the Democratic legislators in Minnesota,” wrote Sunday. “Last week, even half of the Democrats in the Chamber did not vote to condemn the assassination of Charlie Kirk.”

Representative Nancy Mace, RS.C., told the tragedy to Minnesota with more details, writing in a statement: “When the president of Minnesota, Melissa Hortman, and her husband were murdered, and the state senator John Hoffman and his wife were injured, the United States chamber adopted a resolution and political violence.”

“But after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, 58 democrats voted against the denunciation of political violence,” wrote Mace.

Representative Greg Steube, R-Fla., Said that he thought that the decision of dozens of democrats to oppose the measure would negatively reflect the party as a whole in the first mid-term elections.

“58 Democrats in the Chamber refused to condemn the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Each republican of the Chamber voted to condemn the attack on Democratic legislators in Minnesota. This is why Democrats continue to lose,” wrote Steube on X. “The Americans will not forget in 2026.”

Randy Fine representative, R-Fla., Also criticized those who voted “present”.

“Each republican of the Chamber voted to condemn the murders to Minnesota. Meanwhile, 58 Democrats in the Chamber refused to condemn the murder of Charlie Kirk. 38 Others put their hands in their pockets. These 96 must be held responsible,” wrote Fine.

The resolution of Minnesota condemned “the attacks of June 14, 2025 against the legislators of the State of Minnesota” and called “all people in the United States to reaffirm our commitment to a safe, civil and peaceful democracy”.

The resolution honored “the life of President Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman, who were killed, Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette Hoffman, who were seriously criticized and the law enforcement agents who quickly responded to attacks and apprehended the alleged author.”

The measure of the Republicans commemorating Kirk was relatively more detailed on the conservative activist killed as a person, praising him as “one of the most important voices in America, engaging in respectful civilian discourse through university campuses, media platforms and national forums, always seeking to raise the truth, to promote understanding and to strengthen the Republic”.

He also said that Kirk “personified the values of the first amendment … and did it with honor, courage and respect for his American compatriots”, while calling for all Americans to condemn political violence.

Several Democrats who opposed the measurement said they were uncomfortable with his praise from Kirk.

“Political violence should never be tolerated. However, empathy is not celebration, and I don’t have to call Charlie Kirk a hero. He was not such.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio -Cortez, DN.Y., said in a written declaration: “To condemn the depravity of Kirk’s brutal murder is a simple question – that which is particularly important to help stabilize an increasingly dangerous and volatile political environment where everyday people feel in danger.”

“This does not underline that the carelessness and the intention of the majority to divide by choosing to introduce this resolution on a purely partisan basis, instead of uniting the congress in this tragedy with one of the many bipartite options to condemn the political violence and the murder of Kirk, as we did with the late Melissa Hortman,” she continued. “His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant and sought to deprive millions of Americans – far from” working tirelessly to promote unity “, according to the majority of this resolution.”
