Castle was among the most successful politicians in Delaware, without ever losing a race until his upheaval in a 2010 primary for the siege of the US Senate that Democrat Joe Biden owned before becoming vice-president.

During his 18 years at Congress, Castle became a leader of centrist Republicans, winning a reputation as a moderate budgetary and social conservative, not afraid to challenge the party line on questions ranging from public spending to environmental protection and abortion.

Castle played a role in improving children’s nutrition programs and the creation of the childhood -free education reform program. His signature problem at the Congress was the commemorative program of the neighborhoods which presented pieces honoring each state, starting with Delaware. He was nicknamed by the guarantee company Numismatic Guaranty Company as “the member of the Congress of Currency”.
