An old man named Democrat of the town hall in Houston, Texas, is criticized on a fundraising platform after the establishment of a campaign to help “legal support” as a result of his comments on social networks on the 27-girl race of the Mystic camp who died in the floods of Hill Country last week.

In the video, Sade Perkins said that the camp “is a Christian camp of girls only of whites” which “does not even have an Asian token” or “black token”.

She neglected to mention the races of more than 200 other people who have disappeared or dead following floods in several counties in Texas.

“It is a fully white and white conservative Christian camp only,” said Perkins in the video. “This does not mean that we do not want the girls to be found, whatever the girls who are missing … But you believe the best, especially in the political climate of today, if it was a group of Hispanic girls … This would not get this type of coverage they get. No one would give an F —.”

Parents are desperately looking for answers on missing campers after the flood of Texas

The fundraising, “Support for Sade Perkins”, was published on the crowdfunding platform will give and offers photos of young girls who died in the flood. Created by Marian Hills, he will benefit at least Perkins, a former member of the Houston Food Insecurity Board.

“Sade Perkins is publicly targeted for telling the truth,” wrote the organizers on the site. “After the devastating flood at the Mystic Camp, Sade, like many of us, had a broken heart. But it also had the courage to say what others would not do it: would this answer seem different if the victims were Hispanic or black girls?”

Hill said that Perkins was hunted down, harassed and flooded with hatred messages, noting that Houston mayor John Whitmire said Perkins had been dismissed “to give the impression that they took a kind of action in response to public indignation.”

However, Hill said that Perkins had resigned “according to his own conditions” in January, that is to say that his mandate expired, according to the city.

Although Perkins has inserted the race into the conversation, the organizers now call for the counter coupling which it is faced with “racialized violence”.

“Sade simply talked about the racial disparity in emergency interventions, something that many thought quietly but were too afraid to say. And the hatred she receives? It is not only a disagreement, it is the violence racialized in sight”, according to fundraising.

Hill allegedly allegedly allegedly made the same comment, “it would have triggered a debate, not disassembly.” She added that since Perkins is a black woman, she is said to be: “You shouldn’t speak at all.”

With the money collected, the organizers said, Perkins will propose “to the protection, legal support and the restoration of reputation and emotional damage that it undergoes”.

Thursday afternoon, the campaign had collected just over $ 400, with a target of $ 20,000.

Many donations are in small amounts, sent by user names acting as comments.

A gift of “disgrace to Houston” collected 23 likes, while donations made by other user names with racial insults, obscene language or death threats aimed in Perkins have hundreds of likes.

While Perkins has not yet discussed fundraising, his boyfriend, Reverend Colin Bossen, published a statement on his website noting that he “disavowed” his comments.

“My Saddé Perkins partner made comments on social networks concerning the horrible floods that devastated the Mystic camp. I want to be clear that I disavow his comments,” wrote Bossen. “While she did not speak in my name or in the name of my congregation, I recognize that her comments caused difficulty in many of those who undergo terrible loss and anxiety.”
