The voters of the most populated city in New England put the ballots on Tuesday during an election of mayor in the midst of a new repression of immigration and the application of customs (ICE) in the Massachusetts.

The vote occurs while the Democratic mayor Michelle Wu of Boston, who requires a re -election to a second four -year term, repels the federal immigration application in the city.

The Ministry of Internal Security announced on Sunday that “Ice had launched” Patriot 2.0 “to target the worst of the worst illegal criminals living in the state of Massachusetts, after the success of Operation Patriot in May.”

And to target Wu, argued the press release: “Sanctuary policies like those pushed by mayor Wu attract not only criminals and the maintenance of criminals, but also these threats of public security above the interests of American citizens respectful of laws. “They are wrong on the law and they are wrong on security,” accused Wu. “This is why Boston was the target. Boston will continue to respect the law of Boston’s trust, our law of the State and clear separation where our local officials and our government of the city do not cooperate in the mass deportation efforts that this federal administration is trying to push.”

And the mayor said: “For months, Ice refused to provide information on their activities in Boston and refuses to publish mandates, while we hear reports of ice agents who take parents as they put their children at school. This does not make our community safer.”

The Boston trust law prevents city police from giving people to ice without a criminal mandate.

The last confrontation comes as the Ministry of Justice continued the officials of the city of Boston, including the mayor, for having pretended to interfere with the repression of immigration.
