The highly anticipated book by former vice-president Kamala Harris summarizing the 2024 electoral cycle, wink at the former transport secretary Pete Buttigieg who could open doors to a potential presidential race in 2028, said DNC vice-president Shasti Conrad, Fox News Digital told an exclusive interview.
“I think Pete Buttigieg is one of our best absolute communicators, and you know, we see it now. … I think she says that, let’s hope, opens a door so that Pete presents himself to the presidency, and you will know, we will see where everything that landed and if the country, you know, is ready to have it drive,” said Conrad in an interview on Thursday.
Conrad, who underlined the book also sets up Harris for having potentially launched another presidential track, spoke to Fox News Digital before the official release of Tuesday of the Memoir. Only a handful of extracts from the book, “107 Days”, has so far been published to the public, notably the Atlantic, reporting the most recently that Harris initially wanted buttigieg as a running mate before finally choosing the Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz.
Buttigieg “would have been an ideal partner – if I was a right white man,” Harris wrote in the next book, according to the Atlantic.

“But we are already asking a lot of America: accepting a woman, a black woman, a black woman married to a Jewish man. Some of me meant, Screw it, let’s do it. But knowing what was at stake, it was too big risk, “the extract from the book continued, referring to typing a homosexual for the ticket as risky.
“And I think Pete also knew it – our mutual sadness.”

The media experts and DC initiates challenged Walz as a running mate after the electoral defeat of November 2024 to President Donald Trump, when they argued the popular Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro or the Senator of Arizona, Mark Kelly or others could have served the campaign against Trump better.
For Conrad, the extract gives a nod to Buttigieg as a “national leader” which could throw his hat in the ring of the presidential candidate during the next cycle. Buttigieg previously presented to the presidency in 2020 before abandoning and approving President Joe Biden to succeed Trump in the Oval Office.

“We will not know if she had added Pete as a running mate, if that would have changed something,” said Conrad. “I don’t think it would have. But I think it’s a, you know, a good kind of head sign towards Pete that he is a national leader that we should look at like someone who could … who could win the appointment in 2028.”
The DNC vice-president, who is also president of the Washington State Democratic Party, defended Walz as a “happy warrior” who “could speak the language of the working class”.

“There are a lot of calculations and time on what we would need for a winning ticket,” she said. “Personally, I thought that, you know, Governor Walz was a fantastic running mate for her. And when I met her last year, I told her, I said joking that we had cultivated her in a laboratory, because he really felt perfect for the moment.”

In response to extracts, Buttigieg told the media on Thursday that he believed “to give Americans more credit” than to base their votes on the “categories”.
The new book highlights Harris to choose Walz as a running mate on Shapiro: “ went with his instinct ”
“My experience in politics was that the way you gain confidence with the voters is mainly based on what they think you are going to do for their life, not on the categories,” MODTIGIEG told Politico during a ribbon cup ceremony in a Democratic Party office in Indiana.
The book allows Harris to “tell his truth” on the electoral cycle Wild 2024, added Conrad, who includes extracts recognizing that Biden “was tired” during the campaign campaign, but denied all “big conspiracy in the White House to hide the infirmity of Joe Biden”.

It is “although she has a sort of the opportunity to say her version of the events and to be able to be more fully herself,” said Conrad. “This is what I saw of these extracts. It is, you know, a real feeling that she, I think, felt very managed and very controlled for a large part of her time, both as vice-president and as a candidate. And it is in a way her opportunity to … tell her truth.”
Fox News Digital contacted the representatives of Buttigieg and Harris, but did not immediately receive any answers.
