The Democrats of the Chamber urges the Trump administration to allow children of the wounded in Gaza during the War of Israel-Hamas to enter the United States for emergency medical care.
In a letter of August 25 to the Secretary of State Marco RubioMore than 140 legislators asked for the inversion of a recent decision to stop the approval of all visitors’ visas for people from the Gaza Strip, including children needing medical care.
“This break will refuse children for the medical care they desperately need. It is difficult to prevent children who are taken in the middle of this horrible conflict from receiving vital medical care,” said the letter.
“In addition, this decision is unaware of the fact that all Palestinians leaving Gazal for medical treatment or support family members receiving medical treatment are already subject to rigorous verification by the Israeli government, including an Israeli security authorization, an identity verification and an evaluation, whether they are linked to Hamas,” continued.

The letter comes after the State Department suddenly announced earlier this month that it would stop delivering travel visas to the people of Gaza, including humanitarian medical visas, while examining the process that allowed some of these people to enter the United States that some have already done so before the break.
“All visitors’ visas for Gaza people are stopped while we carry out a complete and in -depth examination of the process and procedures used to issue a small number of humanitarian medical visa in recent days,” the State Department wrote in an article on social networks on August 16, without offering additional details.
Rubio said that the change had been brought after several congress offices contacted allegations “that certain organizations were boasting and involved, the acquisition of these visas have solid links with terrorist groups like Hamas”.

“It is not only children, it is a bunch of adults who accompany them,” said Rubio during an appearance on “Face The Nation” by CBS News the day after the announcement.
Before the agency’s announcement, several Gaza children arrived in the United States to receive medical treatment “without incident”, wrote the Democrats in the Chamber in the letter.
“We use it to revers it immediately to the decision and CV of the State Department, allowing those of Gaza of temporary temporary medical visas to enter the United States to receive the rescue care they need,” the legislators wrote in Rubio.

The letter asks Rubio to specify the national security problems that have triggered the modification of visa approvals. The legislators also requested a calendar for the agency’s examination process and asked what guarantees were taken into account to prevent the disruption of emergency medical care programs.
Democrats also called on the ministry to allow Gaza children requiring emergency medical care to be exempt from the break.
“We would appreciate any clarification concerning the basis of politics and a reassessment of its impact on individuals and vulnerable families in desperate need,” said the letter.
