Friday, the president of Texas House, Dustin Burrows, promised that the ongoing democrats who are trying to return home during the weekend will not have a “peaceful weekend” and will be rather arrested and “obliged to this room”.

A new special session of the Texas House of Representatives began Friday afternoon, just two hours after the House dominated by the Republicans could not reach a quorum after the Democrats had not appeared.

While the Democratic legislators who fled Texas to prevent any vote on the redistribution of the Congress in the red state indicates that they return home, the Republicans of the Texas legislature dominated by the GOP posting the current special session when they gathered in the morning.

A few minutes later, Texas Governor Greg Abbott called on a second consecutive special session of the state legislature, to pass cards designed by the GOP to create up to five districts of the Republican convivial congress to the detriment of the seats currently controlled by the Democrats. The new session started at noon CT but was quickly adjourned.

Burrows said at the start of the second special session on Friday that he expected to reach a quorum on Monday, with the likely return of the ongoing democrats.

Burrows added that all the Democrats of Texas who return during the weekend will be arrested and immediately brought back to the Capitol. “Civil mandates will be reissued. If you are located, you will be forced to this room,” he said.

“Those who are here today, you have won the weekend at home with your families, but those who refused to do quorum. I’m sure you are missing at home. Do not think you have permission to return to Texas and enjoy a peaceful weekend before finally running at work,” said Burrows. “DPS will remain active and civil arrest mandates will be re-entered. If you are located, you will be forced to this room. If this happens, I will ask the members who have returned home for the weekend to come back immediately.”

Action at Austin occurs a day after the governor of California Gavin Newsom and the State Democrats unveiled their game book to counter the push of President Donald Trump and the Republicans to adopt rare – but not due to a redistribution of the Congress in mid -December.

The quick rhythm moves in Austin are the last of the national battle with high issues between the Republicans and the Democrats for the redistribution of the congress before the mid-term elections next year.

Newsom promised to “meet fire with fire” by restarting the cards of the California congress in the blue state to create five other democratic districts.

State Democratic legislators who fled to the Bleus States of Illinois, New York and Massachusetts, said they would return to Texas after the current special session. However, they did not say specifically what day they would come home.

The end of the democrats by the Democrats will lead to the passage of new cards, but the Democrats of Texas swear that they will fight the new state cards in court and say that the movements of California allow them to pass “the stick”.

“Now, while the Democrats across the country join our fight to make these cards fail their political objective, we are ready to bring this battle to Texas in the right conditions and to bring this fight before the courts,” the Democratic chief of the Texas State, Gene Wu said on Thursday.

Abbott urges the highest Tribunal of Texas to withdraw Wu from his functions, and the General Prosecutor of the Ken Paxton State asked that 13 legislators of the Democratic State be also removed from his functions. Leaked legislators also face fines of up to $ 500 per day for their absence.

In Texas, the State Senate adopted the new Congress cards, but the Democratic legislators of the Chamber fled the State, preventing the Chamber from reaching a quorum. This actually blocked the votes in the room to approve the red -cutting thrust of the GOP.

The two chambers of the State Legislative Assembly began to meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, and the Chamber, after having failed again to reach a quorum, postponed the current special session. Abbott then called the second special session.

“The democrats of the delinquent chamber have moved away from their responsibility to adopt crucial legislation for the benefit of the life of the Texans,” the governor charged in a statement on Friday morning.

In addition, the conservative governor with three mandates promised earlier this week that “I will continue to call a special session after the special session until we obtained this first Texas program.”

The republican thrust in Texas, which comes at the request of Trump, is part of a wider effort of the GOP across the country to fill their majority at the thin house like the razor to keep control of the mid-term room in 2026, when the power party traditionally faces a political head and loses seats.

Trump and his political team aim to prevent what happened during his first mandate in the White House, when the Democrats returned to grasp the majority of the room in the middle of 2018. However, while the republican push in Texas to upset the current cards of the Congress does not face constitutional constraints, the Newsom path in California is much more complicated.

Schwarzenegger’s new role of gaze: repel the news reader of Newsom

The governor is moving to organize a special election this year, to obtain the approval of the voters to cancel the constitutional amendments that created the non -partisan redistribution committee. A two -thirds majority vote in the Californian legislature dominated by the Democrats would be necessary to hold the referendum.

The leaders of the Democratic Party are convinced that they will have the votes to advance the constitutional amendment and the new cards proposed to the Congress through the Legislative Assembly.

“Here, we are open and simple before a vote is expressed in the mid-term elections of 2026 and here (Trump) tries once again to fake the system,” Newsom accused Thursday.

The appearance of Thursday by Newsom, which is considered to be a probable competitor for the democratic presidential appointment of 2028, will also serve as the start of fundraising to increase the massive quantities of the campaign necessary to sell the redistribution thrust throughout the state in California.

The non -partisan redistribution commission, created over 15 years ago, remains popular with most Californians, according to the survey of public opinion.

This is why Newsom and the Democratic legislators of California promise not to completely remove the commission, but rather temporarily replacing it by the Legislative Assembly for the next three electoral cycles.

“We are going to assert our commitment to the independent redistribution of the State after the 2030 census, but we ask voters their consent to rediscover mid-term,” said Newsom.

However, their efforts are opposed to a number of coalitions of figures favorable to the non -partisan commission.
