The Democrats of Texas are preparing to flee the state to prevent the Republicans from transmitting a key redistribution plan which threatens the ability of the Democrats to take over the House of Representatives in 2026.

The strategy of the Democrats of Texas is to prevent the Republicans from having the necessary quorum of the legislators to adopt a redistribution plan. Taking such drastic measures, however, would have a cost, because the rules of the state would impose a fine of $ 500 for each day that a legislator is inspired by the Legislative Assembly. Nevertheless, state legislators already delight funds to cover these expenses, according to Texas Tribune.

The Texas Republicans imposed the fine of $ 500 a day in 2023, two years after their democratic counterparts left the state in mass in an unsuccessful effort to thwart the priorities of the GOP.
