The governor of Illinois JB Pritzker, a large democratic leader and presidential candidate, has signed a bill opening financial assistance to students to all residents, regardless of immigration status, opening a course for illegal immigrants living in the state to receive educational financial advantages.

This decision was criticized by conservative representative Mary Miller, R-ill., As a gratifying illegal immigrants and a “slap opposite” to Illinois families and students.

The bill claims to establish “equitable eligibility for financial assistance and benefits” for all students of the State.

The bill indicates that “a student who is a resident of Illinois and who is not otherwise eligible for federal financial aid, including, but without limiting himself, a transgender student who is disqualified so as not to register for a selective service or a non -citizen student who has not obtained a lawful lawful residence, will be eligible for financial assistance and advantages”. “”

One of the sponsors of the bill, the senator of the Celina Villanueva State, a democrat, celebrated Pritzker to sign the bill by saying in a press release that “this law aims to ensure that no student is left because of the place where they were born”.

A Villanueva office declaration said that the measure “eliminates the patchwork of the confusing and sometimes contradictory requirements that have excluded undocumented students, daced and mixed with critical aid”.

The law concerns any student residing in Illinois, which makes him eligible for financial assistance programs funded or administered by the State, local governments or public universities, according to the press release.

The press release indicates that the law “relies on the long -standing advocacy of Villanueva for immigrant students and of first generation by creating a more coherent and inclusive path to access support”.
