The Democrat representative Dwight Evans of Pennsylvania has announced that he would not continue the re -election of the American House of Representatives next year, but noted that he would end his current mandate.

According to a press releaseThe Congress member said he was “healthy and entirely capable of continuing to serve”, but “decided that the time had come to announce that I will not ask for re -election in 2026”.

The legislator revealed last year that he had A minor stroke.

Evans, which started serving in the American house in November 2016, had previously served the Pennsylvania State representatives since 1981.

“After a meticulous reflection and an in-depth reflection this last weekend, I decided that I would not ask for re-election in 2026. It was the honor and the privilege of a life to serve the inhabitants of PA-03. I will be forever grateful to the residents of Philadelphia for the confidence they have placed me,” he said in a statement.

He said he will work to help Democrats recover the majority of the room.

“I intend to spend the months to come and focus on increasing the rate of participation in Philadelphia. Our voices count, and our votes are our power. I will also do everything I can to help Democrats take up the majority in the House of Representatives,” he said in the press release.

“Finally, I mean that to my elected colleagues: we have to do a better listening job – to really listen – to the people we represent. The challenges to which our voters are real, and they deserve leaders present and ready to act boldly on their behalf,” he noted.

Senator Thom Tillis, RN.C., said in a statement issued Sunday which will not ask for re -election.
