The bike ride of husband and woman along a Canadian path took a terrifying tour on weekends when they frightened two grizzly ones, making them attack.

Local authorities have said that rapid reflection by women had probably saved the two lives while using spray bears to hunt animals.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday July 26, while the couple was rolling towards electric bikes near the Kootenay river. According to the service of conservation agents of British Columbia (COS), the Bears attacked after being surprised.

The woman told the authorities that she had heard her husband shouting before seeing a bear loading to her. As she reached her bear spray, she noticed another Grizzly attacking her husband. She again deployed the spray, successfully leading the two bears.

The officials said that the man was seriously injured and had been transported by emergency workers in a hospital, where he suffered surgery. He should recover.

“The couple was well prepared,” said COS Dave Webster inspector in an article on Facebook. “They had a spray bear, kept it accessible and knew how to use it. Their actions were laudable, and we urge anyone in the bear country to take similar precautions.”

After the attack, the police interviewed the victims, inspected the scene and consulted an expert in Carnivore, who concluded that the bears probably acted defensive.

In a statement published two days after the meeting, the COS confirmed that the Bears behavior seemed to be a defensive response and that the couple had probably taken the animals off guard in a dense section of the path.

There was no indication that the bears had followed or hunted the pair, and no recent sign of the aggression of the bear had been reported in the region.

Because the Bears seemed to act in self -defense, the fauna officials decided not to continue or move them.

The authorities have stressed that the bear is a proven and effective deterrence against bear attacks.
