MLB News: Dodgers wins the playoffs in the last departure of Clayton Kershaw at home

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their 13th consecutive place in playoffs in the last home game in the regular season of the Clayton Kershaw franchise legend.

The Dodgers beat the Giants of San Francisco 6-3 Friday evening at the Dodger Stadium to equalize New York Yankees (1995-2007) for the second longer sequence of eliminatory series in the history of major leagues.

Only the sequence of 14 consecutive appearances of the Braves of Atlanta (1991-2005) is longer.

“Completely accomplishment,” said manager Dave Roberts. “It never ages, you never take it for granted. It takes a lot of work to get there.”

Kershaw had a decision without a decision in the victory when he launched 4⅓ sleeves, abandoning two points deserved on four strokes and four goals on bullets while removing six strikers. The 37 -year -old announced Thursday that he would retire at the end of the season.

“I wanted to make sure that we raised a drink to Clayton that day, his career and that we somehow recognize what we have accomplished in the playoffs,” said Roberts. “This is a step. The next step is to win this division, so we still have work to do. Once we have done this, we can focus on the playoffs.”

Kershaw will start more regular season when the team will play at Seattle Mariners next week, but there is no guarantee that the future Hall of Famer will be a starter in the playoffs.

With Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell in the praised of Dodgers, Kershaw knows that his opportunity to present in the playoffs could be limited.

“I am excited about what the next five or six weeks could look like,” said Kershaw. “Our team is honestly stacked with pitching at the moment. I can do the calculation. I know there are only so many spots, so I will just continue to try to throw well, and we will see what is going on.

“We will try to win the World Series. I’m ready and ready to do everything I can to help.”

While the Dodgers won a place in the playoff series, they have not yet won the West National League.

The Dodgers lead second place in San Diego Padres by four games in the NL West race, and their magic number is four to win the division. Los Angeles is trying to win its 12th division title in the past 13 years and needs three additional victories to reach 90 for the 12th consecutive year.

The Dodgers (87-67) face the Giants (76-78) in the second match of their three game series on Saturday at 9:10 p.m. he.
