Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to convene his high -level security firm on Thursday to discuss the widening of the war against Hamas, including the complete potential military occupation of the Gaza Strip.
The perspective comes in the context of the 20th anniversary of the total disengagement of Israel from the enclave, while calls for resettlement – formerly confined to political fringes – have entered the dominant current, including within the government, in particular following the massacre of October 7 of Hamas.
The reconstruction of the Jewish communities of Gaza would be “a historical correction to a national injustice,” the Minister of Israel, the Negev and the Negev and Le Galilee told Fox News.

“Expelling the Jews from their homes in their own country was a strategic and moral error that led to the rise of an Islamist terrorist regime called Hamas,” he said. “This error allowed Hamas to draw implacable rockets and, finally, to achieve the massacre of October 7 – which included murder, rape, abuse, looting and, of course, the kidnapping of soldiers and civilians.”
Wasserlauf invoked the block of 17 Israeli communities, collectively known under the name of Gush Katif, which was created in Gaza after the six -day war in 1967. In August 2005, as part of the unilateral disengagement from Israel, the government has forcibly removed around 8,600 Jewish residents from the region.
He said that the reapplication of Israeli sovereignty “would send a clear message: whoever strikes us loses the ground under his feet. It is only in this way that a real deterrence can be made,” continued Wserlauf. “We must create facts on the ground. There must be no agreement with the terrorists. The regulation in Gaza must, at the very least, be the price reminiscent of terrorism does not pay.”
From 1948 to 1967, the Gaza Strip was under Egyptian occupation. After Israel captured the territory in the six -day war of 1967, it remained under Israeli control until 1994, when administrative responsibility was transferred to the Palestinian authority under the Oslo agreements – paving the way to the return of Yasser Arafat to exile in Tunis.

In 2005, Israel evacuated all the soldiers and civil communities of Gaza. Shortly after, Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections and organized a violent coup to overthrow the Palestinian authority and take control of the band.
A year after Israel unilaterally disengaging from Gaza, evacuating all the military and civil communities, Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections and, shortly after, organized a violent coup to overthrow Palestinian authority and take control of the band.
Wasserlauf argued that criticisms of disengagement had long warned that any land concession would only enhance the terrorists. These warnings, he said, were ignored, but ultimately proven to be correct by the events that followed.
He recognized that the renewal of regulations in Gaza would likely trigger political counterpouss both at the national level and abroad. “The countries that support us will stand with us, and those who constantly oppose us will remain against us … I remind you that there were countries that have urged us not to strike Iran, despite its race for nuclear weapons and its explicit objective of destroying Israel.”

Brig. General (res.) Amir Avivi told Fox News Digital that the main doctrine of the national security of Israel of deterrence was tested by jihadist groups like Hamas, which operate according to a set of radically different rules.
Avivi, founder and president of the Israeli Defense and Security Forum, said that Israel’s approach to Gaza could ultimately spend American support, in particular President Donald Trump. “If the American president advocates massive relocation and take control of Gaza to implement his own vision, this would suggest a kind of basic understanding between the two parties,” said Avivi.
He said the Israeli Defense Forces (FDI) are currently controlling around 75% Gaza, with decisions that are largely motivated by military considerations. However, he said that the remaining 25% of the territory involves wider strategic decisions, shaped by the way Israel and the United States see the future of the region, including Jewish colonization.
Major-General (res.) Yaakov Amidror, a former national security advisor, told Fox News Digital that Gaza’s resettlement should not be part of the Israel Agenda.

“We have a mission now, and it’s to dismantle Hamas,” he said. “We will talk about the next day, the next day. To bring any level of normality to Gaza, we must find partners – and I do not know who these partners would be if we settle in Gaza.”

Amidror, a distinguished member of the Jewish Institute for National Security of America, said that Israel was to be solely responsible for security in Gaza, citing the past failures when the control was transferred to the Palestinians after the Oslo agreements. He argued that the recovery of the colonies could complicate this mission, saying that security should remain only in the hands of the IDF.
The religious legislative of Zionism Simcha Rothman told Fox News Digital that “if we try to achieve peace, any agreement or situation in which the Jews cannot live in their former homeland are not only”, but he recognized that it was not one of the official objectives of Israel. “Although the reinstallation of Gaza is the right thing to do, that is not part of the current effort.”
Major-General (ret.) Amos Yadlin, former FDI military intelligence chief, has reiterated that Gaza’s resettlement is not part of the declared war objectives of the Israeli government.
“If Israel has to reoccupy Gaza militarily, it should be to destroy Hamas and bring the hostages back – not to annex Gaza as part of Israel. There are 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, perhaps more,” Yadlin, who is currently president of Mind Israel, told Fox News.

“Israel does not want to reign over them or support the needs of all their needs. It would cost billions and modify the demographic balance. This idea is pushed by right-wing elements to the government, and even the Prime Minister and his party do not support it,” he said.
Daniella Weiss, Director General of Nachala Settlement Movement, told Fox News Digital that the consequences of the October 7 attack in Hamas signaling the start of a new era. “I think we should go much further than what existed in 2005. At the time, we were 10,000 people in Gaza. Our movement, Nachala, proposed a plan for 1.2 million Jews in Gaza,” said Weiss.

She said that her organization was already taking tangible measures to start the process, “we organized six groups of young families – more than 1,000 families – who are ready to move to Gaza now,” she said.
While Weiss has expressed his regret that the Israeli government has not included Jewish resettlement in its official war objectives, it insisted that in the democracy of Israel, public pressure can influence government policy.
“The fundamental truth is that the Gaza region is part of the Western Negev,” she said. “Historically, it was part of the area of the Yehuda tribe. To-your back is false.”
