President Donald Trump received a rare reprimand from the Catholic Church after the bishop of Charleston published a long public statement Convicing the American immigration system, slamming the president’s mass expulsion efforts while creating “acceptable” plans of former President George W. Bush.

Bishop Mark Brennan, who presides over the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston Including all of Virginia-Western Virginia, said that America was “built on the back of men and women from other countries, whether freely or in chains”.

“Now we see our government adopting severe measures to expel as many immigrants as possible, often without distinguishing real criminals and people who respect the laws.”

“A government who says he wants to help families is willing to separate immigrant parents from their children. A government that oversees the economy wants to expel millions of workers whose economy depends,” said Brennan.

The prelate said that some parishioners had told him about their support for Trump during the 2024 campaign on his commitment from a safe border which now decreases due to a “wholesale assault against the majority of immigrants …”

“You expected an approach to the laser beam, not a spotlight,” said Brennan.

The bishop Compared the distress of certain immigrants to Matthieu 2, who describes how Mary and Joseph fled Israel with a child of Jesus Christ.

“Get up and take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Because, Herod is about to seek the child to destroy him,” reads this writing.

“Our church looks at the person, not their legal status, and, after the teaching and example of Christ, reaches out to help the immigrant,” said Bishop Brennan.

“A person is more important than legal status. Even prisoners in prison are fed, dressed and have resolved to their health problems, at least in well -managed prisons.”

He then praised the work that Catholic Charities does to help migrants, adding that illegal entry to the United States is at the same statutory level as the blur and the display.

Returning back to the 19th century, Brennan noted that the fugitive Slave Act had been used to “calm tensions” between states and that the North States refused to cooperate because they considered it an unjust law.

“It is an unjust law that an unjust law does not be linked to conscience. But one must be prepared to accept the consequences of civil disobedience. Martin Luther King, Jr., was willing to go to prison rather than acquiesce in unjust laws, a will shared by pro-life activists and Protestant people against nuclear weapons,” added Brennan.

The bishop, however, added that the two political parties have failed to substantially approach the immigration reform.

“Republican president George W. Bush presented an acceptable but imperfect plan to reform immigration laws, but his own party has shot him,” he said.

“Democratic President Barack Obama said he would act on immigration reform, but with the Democrats in Congress control his first two years, he did not do it,” added Brennan. “Our politicians failed us.”

The White House described the declaration “to catch up with inaccuracies and disinformation. It is false and offensive to confuse illegal immigrants (sic) with legal immigrants who have followed the law and entered the country in the right way.”

“Anyone who has violated the law and has entered illegally into the United States is, by definition, not a” person respectful of the laws “. President Trump holds his promise to the American people to carry out the greatest mass deportation operation in history, and unlike failing leaders like Joe Biden, it allows federal agents to apply the law to do their law and without law, “Said the spokesperson for the White House Abigail.
