The An-24 plane crashes in the Far East of Russia with nearly 50 people on board

A plane carrying nearly 50 people on board would have crushed in the Far East of Russia on Thursday and local emergency services located the wreck.

The country’s ministry of emergency situations said that the research teams have found the burning fuselage of the plane on a hill south of its planned destination in the city of Tynda, which is located near the border of Russia with China.

Images of the reported crash site disseminated by the Russian state media show debris dispersed in a dense forest, surrounded by plumes of smoke.

A first air inspection of the site suggested that there were no survivors, said the Russian interfax news agency, citing anonymous sources in the emergency services. Its sources also said that there were difficult weather conditions in the region.

The Office of the Transport Prosecutor said that the plane had attempted a second approach when he was trying to land during contact with him.

Forty-three passengers, including five children, as well as six crew members were aboard the An-24 passenger plane while traveling from the city of Blagvesthchensk to the Russian-Chinese border to the city of Tynda, said regional governor Vasily Orlo.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia said that 48 people were on board the flight, which was operated by Angara Airlines, based in Siberia. The reason for the gap was not immediately clear.
