Cornyn said the case is “sensitive to time” because the Texas Legislative Assembly is currently in a special session called by Governor Greg Abbott With only remaining weeks.

“The absence of a quorum prevents key votes in important areas of concern for Texans,” he wrote. “For example, the recent floods of Kerrville, which caused unbearable tragedy and destruction, is only a problem which must be resolved in this legislative session.”

Abbott told Sean Hannity de Fox News on Monday that it was gerrymandering in the blue states that “distorted” politics in America.

“Donald Trump won these five seats that we will make republican seats,” said Abbott. “The same should be applied in all these other states.”

Abbott filed an emergency request on Tuesday before the Supreme Court of Texas seeking to withdraw the representative of the leader Gene Wu, D-Texas, from his functions.

“I clarified in an official declaration on Sunday August 3, that if the Democrats of the Texas Chamber were not present when the Chamber met at 3:00 p.m. on Monday August 4, then measures would be taken to request their withdrawal,” Abbott wrote in a statement. “They did not return and have not satisfied the requirements of the Quorum. The Wu representative and the other Democrats of the Texas Chamber have shown a voluntary refusal to return, and their absence for an indefinite period of time deprives the room of the quorum necessary to meet and lead affairs in name.

The trial also accuses WU and other Democrats in the Chamber of Texas to solicit and receive services in exchange to stimulate a vote, supporting their withdrawal from its functions and allegations of corruption.
