Texas Dems who fled the state to block the redistribution of the GOP will return: Report

The Democrats of the Texas Chamber would have confirmed that they intended to return to their state after fled with the aim of stopping legislative procedures, which included the GOP attempts to redraw the districts of the State Congress.

Several sources confirmed to ABC 13 Houston On Tuesday, the absent democrats of the Chamber will return to the solo star state after having had the impression of having accomplished their mission to kill the special legislative session called by the Republicans to adopt the redistribution legislation. The special session expires next Tuesday.

The point of sale reported that the exact time of the return of democrats in the capital to Austin is not clear.

The news of the imminent return of legislators in the state comes the same day as the Republicans of the Texas Senate were able to have the new cards of the Congress approved. They must now be adopted in the House before the republican governor Greg Abbott could sign them.

Earlier this week, Lieutenant-Governor Dan Patrick and the Republican President of the Dustin Burrows Chamber indicated that they would postpone the special legislative session this Friday if the Democrats had not returned by then.

Meanwhile, Abbott pointed out his intention to immediately call a second consecutive special session and teased that he could also add additional agenda elements.

The strategy of the Democrats of Texas to leave the State and to abdicate its functions in order to block republican legislative efforts is a strategy that they have used before.

In 2021, more than 50 Democrats in Texas left the State for the national capital in order to block republican law on electoral security after the electoral loss of President Donald Trump in 2020.
