Suspect who opened fire on border patrol agents in southern Texas identified by the police

A shooter who would have opened fire on border patrol agents outside a federal building in McAllen, Texas, was identified by the authorities as the Michigan resident, 27, Ryan Louis Mosqueda.

An active shooter armed with tactical equipment and a rifle opened fire on agents of the border patrol while they arrived in an annex installation of the border patrol in McAllen, Texas, in the Rio Grande valley on Monday. The police believe that the attack was a determined ambush targeting those responsible for the border patrol.

At a press conference after the shooting, McAllen’s police chief Victor Rodriguez identified the alleged shooter like Mosqueda, saying that he would have opened fire on the agents, dismissing “many, many dozens of laps” in the building.

Rodriguez confirmed that the suspect had been killed on the scene by agents who make fire.

According to the police chief, there is not yet a known reason for why Mosqueda would have opened fire on the agents of the border patrol.

He said the suspect is associated with an address in Michigan and that he arrived on the scene by driving a vehicle with plates from Michigan. He also mentioned that the suspect’s car had a paint in spraying with “a certain language on it”, perhaps Latin, that he could not decipher.

According to Rodriguez, Mosqueda was missing in an address in Weslaco nearby and “an hour and a few minutes later, he was there, opening fire on a federal building”.

In a statement sent by email to Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for FBI San Antonio said that McAllen police had received shooting calls heard by a local border patrol establishment near McAllen international airport at around 5:53

The spokesman said that the armed suspect, whom they had not identified as a mosque but rather an “adult man”, “hired law enforcement agents by responding to the scene and that the officers were burnt down”.

According to the spokesperson, an answer officer was injured in the gunshots and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The officer is now in a stable state.

The FBI representative said that there was “currently no threat to public security we know” and that the investigation is underway.

According to a DHS press release on X, two officers and a border patrol employee were injured during the shooting, including a knee blow.
