Some of the most noisy voices of the party remain firmly opposed. The governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, clashed several times with Trump during the immigration raids in his state, while the prosecutor of the district of Philadelphia, Larry Krasner, promised that his city would not cooperate.

“We have an authoritarian president who is a criminal”, ” Krasner said Earlier this year concerning Sanctuary City’s position against cooperation with ice.

In Pennsylvania, the representative of the Abigail State Salisbury took considerations a little further and announced a bill at the house of the democratic state to largely prohibit the police of the state of Pennsylvania from cooperating with the ice.

Salisbury, who holds the former summer headquarters of “the team”, the representative Summer Lee and also represents the hometown of Senator John Fetterman, of Braddock, warned cooperation with the ice that will empty the critical resources of state soldiers.

She declared in a press release that the PSP joining any agreement 287 (G) – a federal policy which allows the abolition of state law enforcement – “would increase workloads, will not overcome taxpayers more and reduce the confidence of the communities which rely on our soldiers of state”.

In response to his home, the district of Swissvale adopting a resolution decree, it will not allow ice help for civil affairs, but will apply a criminal mandate to a judge, Salisbury said on facebook“This is what the fact of the right of history looks like.”

Termed to comment on, a PSP public information officer said soldiers “comply with internal regulations” governing the application of immigration law and the detention of foreign nationals.

“The regulations stipulate that the application of immigration laws” falls exclusively in the authority of the Ministry of Internal Security “- which includes ice and CBP.”

The PSP was prosecuted in 2019 by ACLU On behalf of several Latin motorists in a case that claims that the soldiers have targeted certain drivers according to their ethnicity and have inquired about immigration status.

In a regulation, the complainants received $ 865,000 and the policies revised by the police such as AR-7-14 to describe that ice prisoners no longer justified an arrest, prohibit the functioning of immigration checks within the framework of identification verification and declare that soldiers are not responsible for the application of the Federal Civil Immigration Act.

The regulations have put the police to a unique disadvantage concerning any future work with the authorities, while Salisbury said that by announcing its legislation, it aims to codify the PSP agency policy directly in the law of the State:

“However, policies do not carry the strength of the law and they can change over time. With so much play, it is important for us to codify existing policy.”
