The secretary of housing and urban development, Scott Turner, shared a video Monday afternoon on social networks showing roof tiles that fall to the headquarters of the HUD agency in the middle of the agency’s efforts to move its headquarters under the Trump administration.
The video of the damaged building comes after Turner announced last month that Hud will move his headquarters on the road to Alexandria, Virginia.
Turner previously cited the fact that the DC building faces more than $ 500 million in “deferred maintenance” costs, while only half of the HUD DC head office is currently used. He also argued that the building is not sure, which he has yet illustrated A Monday article on X.

“The current HUD seat collapses wherever you turn. I witnessed this first-hand issue,” said Turner subtitled his video published Monday afternoon. “This is not suitable for HUD staff or the people we serve. The moving day cannot come early enough.”

Turner has shown “damaged roof tiles”, which he described as water -fired and “flight”. The video showed a gaping hole in the roof of the HUD headquarters, with a bunch of trash can below what seemed to be broken roof tiles from the interior of the building that fell.
“Did this come across someone?” Turner asked in the video, after someone behind the camera confirms that this was not the case. “Well,” replied Turner. “It will not be long. It will not be long.”

The HUD building will move from Robert C. Weaver Federal Building to 2415 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, where the National Science Foundation (NSF) is hosted, but no indication has been made on the moment when this move is finalized. This decision marks the first major executive agency under Trump to move its headquarters.
The reinstalling effort will be a staggered process which will finally move around 2,700 employees of HUD currently based in the DC headquarters building, according to the General Services Administration (GSA).

In addition to saving on deferred maintenance costs, resettlement also allows taxpayers to save around $ 56 million in annual rent and operating expenses, according to HUD.
“These are HUD employees to have a safe space, to have a good place to work, to represent the people we serve in America,” said Turner at a press conference officially announcing relocation last month. “It is not the secretary. It is the posterity and the future of Hud.”
