The head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., called on the FBI to assess threats of counterintelligence in the files of Jeffrey Epstein.
Schumer told the Senate on Tuesday that the FBI assessment should do three things: determine if foreign intelligence agencies could access information “that the president does not want to release in Epstein files, by methods that include cyber-introusion;” Identify all the vulnerabilities that could be exploited by foreign intelligence agencies with access to non -public information in Epstein files, “including the possibility of winning a lever effect on Donald Trump, his family or other senior government officials;” And leads to the FBI to publicly show that the office “develops attenuation strategies to counter these threats and protect our national security”.
During his weekly press conference on Democratic leadership later, Schumer condemned what he classified as Epstein’s “concealment”, aiming more for President Donald Trump and Chamber Mike Johnson, R-La.
“Trump promised that he would release Epstein files while he was on the campaign track, but he hasn’t done it yet,” Schumer told journalists. “President Johnson has literally preferred to close the congress, sending everyone back to the house on a recreation of Epstein to avoid the subject. The Americans are right to be angry with the lack of transparency, but there are also real questions about the risks for national security.”

“Given the Trump total for the publication of the files and given what we know of the FBI denunciators, it is natural to ask, what happens if our opponents use cyber attacks and other means of accessing files and documents in Epstein who damage or worse for President Trump and or those around him?” Schumer continued. “What happens if Epstein files are found in the hands of Russia or North Korea, or Chinese governments? Unless Epstein files are entirely published to the public, could our opponents use this, Epstein, to use this information to make someone sing like the President?
Last Thursday, noted Schumer, the Ministry of Internal Security and the Ministry of Health and Social Services were part of several pirated government agencies as part of a violation of the Microsoft SharePoint system.
“It was confirmed that they were Chinese actors. So we don’t need this again,” said Schumer. “We must make sure that this cannot happen. National security is not and should never be a partisan problem. We must do our best to make sure that we protect American and American families. This report is essential to do so.
Last week, Johnson put an end to the legislative session of the House a day earlier, avoiding a potential vote on a resolution of the representatives Thomas Massie, R-ky., And Ro Khanna, D-Calif., This would have forced the Ministry of Justice and the FBI to publish Epstein files. Johnson said on Sunday that the Republicans of the Chamber supported the “maximum disclosure”, but argued that the resolution was “reckless” and poorly written, arguing that it was unaware of the federal rules protecting the materials of the Grand Jury and “would demand that the Doj and the FBI disclose the information they know is false, which is based on lies and Not credible enough to have entered legal proceedings. ”

“It’s such an old story. Very easy to explain, but I don’t want to waste your time explaining it. But for years, I would not speak to Jeffrey Epstein. I would not speak because he had done something inappropriate,” Trump told journalists. “He hired the help and I said:” Never start again. “He stole people who worked for me. He did it again and I threw him out of the place, persona non grata.

“I never went to the island and Bill Clinton went there, supposedly 28 times. I never went to the island, but Larry Summers, I heard, went there. He was the head of Harvard and many other people who are very big people. No one speaks of them,” said Trump. “I never had the privilege of going to his island. And I refused it. But a lot of people at Palm Beach were invited to his island. In one of my very good times, I refused it.”
