Senator Bernie Sanders, I-VT., Attracted large crowds over the weekend for his “tour of combat oligarchy” in a state that would otherwise repugnate to listen to his democratic socialist message.

Sanders spoke to a crowd reserved for the standing room in a Wheeling theater – a city sandwiched between Ohio and Pennsylvania in the north of Mendicité – and organized two other events from the capital, Charleston, and in Lenore, a 1,300 coal city through the Tug Fork River.

Sanders said the Republicans had not won Virginia -Western in 2024 – the second red state behind Wyoming – but that the Democrats “lost it”.

The Republicans, however, rejected the gatherings of the left shooting brands. They said that the real proof of political momentum in the mountain state is in number that the GOP continues to attract to a place where “BlueDog” democrats like Senator Joe Manchin and representative Nick Joe Rahall dominated politics only a decade ago.

On social networks, Sanders celebrated his Lenore rally as a “big participation” in a place “where Trump won 74% of the votes”.

“The working class here knows that it is absurd to reduce Medicaid & Snap to give tax reductions to the billionaires. Trump has not won Virginia-Western, DEMS has lost it. The workers want a real alternative.”

In Wheeling, where the industrial facilities of Behemoth border the Ohio river to the south towards Huntington, Sanders said that it had come to “begging” public political activism.

Virginia-Western Republican Party President Josh Holstein told Fox News Digital in an interview on Monday that if the voters compared Sanders’ wheeling rally to his campaign event a decade ago in Huntington, they would notice that many others came to hear him for the first time.

“Our party exceeded 500,000 Republicans registered in West Virginia for the first time. And it is a complete reversal of nine years ago, when the Democrats had an advantage of registered voters,” said Holstein.

“It’s just a remarkable turnaround, it really shows – where are the hearts and minds of the inhabitants of Virginia -Western? They are with us, they are not with the Democrats.”

Holstein said the progressive movement was at its peak when Sanders was its de facto chief when he presented himself to the presidency, and that his rallies were also a silent act of today’s Democratic Party.

“I find it a little hilarious that the only person who can really attract the crowd to West Virginia – or anywhere at this stage – for the democratic base is someone who is not a democrat,” joked Holstein.

Representative Riley Moore, a Republican from East Panhandle – the only part of the Sanders state has not visited – offered his own irony.

“A millionaire socialist flying on a private jet to give conferences from the working class of Virginians-Western on” the oligarchy “is laughable,” said Moore.

“But there is nothing funny in work and green energy policies destructive of the community that Bernie Sanders pushes on behalf of real institutions (AT) -Pushing (Investment).”

State del. Mike Pushkin, D-Kanawha, president of the Democratic Party of Virginia-Western, credited Sanders as the first of any federal legislator to hold a town hall in the state.

“Senator Sanders came to Virginia -Western and did something that our Congress Republican Delegation refuses to do – organize open meetings and respond directly to the people they represent,” said Pushkin.

“Wherever he went, the crowd was reserved for the standing room, and they welcomed him with real enthusiasm. The Virginians-Western people responded to his strong and strong message-they want to withdraw dark money from politics, protect social security and health insurance and create real economic opportunities for everyone.”
