The federal trial of Ryan Routh, accused of having tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump in a golf series in September 2024, resumed on Monday after a week that saw seated jurors, opening declarations and a gaple of early testimony.

In just two days of testimony last week, prosecutors called 13 witnesses – mainly FBI agents and secret services – to travel the jurors through the investigation and the response to the alleged attack.

Prosecutors opened Thursday by reading Ryan Routh’s own words – “Trump cannot be elected” and “I need Trump to leave” – ​​to say that he traced for months, traveled from Hawaii and positioned himself at the Trump International Golf Club with a chambered rifle.

Roth, representing himself, made an opening declaration of seven minutes according to which the judge named Trump, Aileen Cannon, shortened after having turned into remarks triggered on Adolf Hitler and the Wright Brothers, at some point, saying to the jurors: “This case does not mean absolutely nothing. A life has not been complete.”

The witnesses of the week included a secret service agent who testified that Routh smiled at him while pointing a rifle “directly on my face”, a civilian who identified Roth fleeing in a hiding place of Nissan Black, and bombing agents and the FBI who described the camera that rushed to it, and Vienna Sausages on the ground.

The jurors also showed photos that the prosecutors said that Roth’s clothes have linked the premises, including pants with red stain prosecutors compared to the red paint on a bag recovered from the brush.
