Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended President Donald Trump’s strike on a drug card off Venezuela on Wednesday and has sworn that the United States will “sit” when it comes to “nacro-terrorism”.
In response to questions about the marine strike on Tuesday that hit a ship in the Southern Caribbean Sea while carrying members of Tren of Aragua passing drugs towards the United States, Rubio said: “We are not going to sit anymore and watch these people sail from the Caribbean as a cruise.”
The strike apparently killed 11 members of the group, which was appointed a terrorist organization in February, and marked a significant change compared to the previous policy of seizure and competence of the United States during the fight against international gang networks.

“The President of the United States has determined that narco-terrorist organizations represent a threat to national security in the United States. I don’t need to explain to you why,” said Rubio, noting that the group is known to circulate not only drugs, but weapons and people.
“These are not stock brokers. They are not real estate agents who, alongside, deal with a few drugs. They are organized, corporate and structured organizations that specialize in the traffic of deadly drugs in the United States of America,” said Rubio. “They are an immediate threat to the United States. Period.”
Speaking with journalists from Mexico, where he also chopped the countertop and narcotics agreements, Rubio argued that the previous policy of seizure and apprehension was ineffective.
“Because these drug cartels, what they do is that they know that they will lose 2% of their cargo-they do it in their economy,” he said. “What will stop them is when you explode them, when you get rid of them.”

The secretary also stressed that weapons groups like Tren of Aragua apparently get unconventional weapons, including drones, and continue to constitute an increasingly serious threat to international security.
“We are increasingly concerned about the fact that these cartels are now in possession, not only terrestrial mines and grenades. We now see the deployment of drone technology by narco-terrorist groups operating from Venezuelan territory,” he added, noting that they are used to threaten the security forces in neighboring states like the Columbia.

Rubio confirmed that the strategy used on Tuesday is how the United States will continue to counter the smuggling of narcotics and international weapons.
“It will happen again. Maybe it happens right now, I don’t know. But the fact is that the President of the United States will warn war on narco-terrorist organizations,” said Rubio.
