Chief judge John Roberts temporarily interrupted an order from the court which forced the Trump administration to spend $ 5 billion in foreign aid, on the side – at least for the moment – with the efforts of President Donald Trump to withdraw the funds.
The administrative suspension gives the judges of the Supreme Court more time to weigh the request of the administration to keep the frozen funds. The congress authorized the money, which must be spent before September 30, 2025.
The stay is temporary and could be replaced later this week. Roberts ordered help groups to respond at noon on Friday.

The money at risk was put aside by the Congress for foreign aid, the efforts to promote peace and promote democracy abroad.
The congress allocated billions for foreign aid last year, including around $ 11 billion which must be spent or forced by September 30, the last day of the year 2025. Otherwise, funding will expire.

The Trump administration has argued in court documents that $ 4 billion in disputed funds are “contrary to American foreign policy”, which is part of the president’s wider “America First” agenda to recover American aid abroad.
Earlier this year, the president also decided to dismantle a large part of the American agency for international development, the main foreign aid agency of the government.

Help groups continued the Trump administration on frost. In August, the administration replied that it planned to spend 6.5 billion dollars from the disputed funds.
Trump is also trying to block $ 4 billion thanks to a “pocket termination”, a budgetary maneuver that goes around the congress.

On September 3, a judge judged that the administration could not retain funding. The court said that he should follow the laws on credits unless the congress changes them.
