Representative Julie Fedorchak, RN.D., decreased the violence “out of control” in the national capital and revealed that it had been attacked by a gang of young people in the streets of Washington, DC, before the takeover of the Trump administration.
Speaking with journalists outside the Capitol Building at a press conference of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) on Tuesday, Fedorchak, who is the only member of the Northern Dakota House of Representatives, agreed with his republican colleagues that the action of Congress is necessary to help DC ensure the security of DC.
She said that she had herself been attacked in broad daylight in the DC Navy Yard district, which is located a few minutes by car from the Capitol and is a popular district for members of the Congress and staff members. The district also houses the Nationals baseball stadium.
“DC is a beautiful city. It is an incredible city, and it is the best capital in the world. But it is not sure. We all know it,” said Fedorchak. “Crime in the national capital is out of control. If DC was a state, it would have the highest homicide rate in the country.”

“In fact, I felt myself recently,” she continued. “I was walking on the street in July and near my apartment in Navy Yard, not very far from my home, and I felt that something hard hit me in the back of my head. It was a great day. I was very surprised. I was on the phone at the time, and just as it happened, a pack of juveniles came through their bikes and I turned to my head.
“Now it was a small minor incident. I was not injured, but the young people who did it, did so with an reckless abandonment and without fear of the consequences,” she said. “They gathered in a circle not far from me after that and sat there and laughed.”
Fedorchak said that this assault was only another example of “how crime is out of control in this city, and there is no consequence”.
In August, President Donald Trump invoked article 740 of the Columbia district law to place the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) under federal control in response to violent crawling crimes in the city. One of the reasons mentioned by the president was the gang epidemic of violent young people terrorizing residents in the streets of DC in early August, a former member of the Dogey staff appointed Edward Coristine was violently attacked by a group of young people from DC and left bloody on the street. Trump described the authors as “thugs” and promised to exercise his powers to federalize DC

Fedorchak praised Trump’s repression at DC and agreed with other Republicans present that more measures are necessary for the congress to help the president to restore order to the city.
“America is the largest country in the world. There is no reason why our capital has a higher rate of violent crimes than some of the most dangerous places in the world,” she said.
“Many of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle have falsely claimed that the statistics of the Crime DC were a hollow of 30 years. But remember that the crime does not only concern statistics. These are people.”
She underlined the recent murder of the 21-year-old congress trainee, Eric Tarpinien-Jachym, who was killed in a car shooting in the northwest of DC in June.
“It is the mother who sent her child here to be an intern in one of our offices this summer, never to see him again. It is all the families who suffer from crime in this same city. It is the union of the metropolitan police, which applies that they are too thin and do not have the resources to take care of crime in this city, and to provide a safe environment. They are members of staff, families, families, families, families who live daily.
Representative Ron Estes, R-Kan., Whose Tarpinian-Jachyms office was on an internship when he was killed, also weighed at the press conference, describing the murder of “insane crime”.
“To date, he has not been resolved by Washington police, DC … That’s why I applaud President Trump and the work he does in terms of watch that we have a safe capital,” he said.

“Yesterday, I was able to walk in the court of the navy with my daughter, and it was great to see the national guard patrolling,” he said. “It was a safe environment for people to go out. It was good. There was a family there for a birthday party for one of their children.”
During the press conference, representative Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., Announced that the Congress would assert greater control on DC to ensure that the city remains safe for residents and visitors.
“In 1973, the Congress granted DC Limited Home Rule Authority through the law on the reorganization of government autonomy of the District of Columbia, also called the Home Rule Act. In Home Rule Act, the Congress reserves the right to exercise its constitutional authority as a legislature so that the congress understands such a authority” declared.
“Why? Because the DC municipal council seeks to exercise its authority not for the best of its citizens or the wider community, but for political ends,” she continued. “For years, the DC municipal council has not only prioritized left -wing policies and programs, but has intentionally sought to hide its activities at the Congress. It is a new day in DC, and Congress intends to assert its authority again to ensure that Washington, DC, rightly reflects this great nation on the national and international scene.”
The president of the RSC August Pfluger, R-Texas, said: “Now the congress must take the next step and use our article a powers.”

“We cannot and do not allow DC to fall back into a hellish landscape when the local government fails,” he added. “It is our constitutional duty to act. Congress has a clear constitutional authority on DC, and we will without hesitation to continue to make DC again.”

During a separate press conference which takes place elsewhere at the Capitol at the same time, the leader of the minority of the Democratic Chamber Hakeem Jeffries, Dn.y., also commented on the repression of Trump’s DC. He minimized the success of the repression, claiming that “each area of criminal activity” was “by descending before the arrival of the National Guard”.
Jeffries suggested that repression was “probably the result of Donald Trump trying to find a way to change the subject, given his deep unpopularity”.
He said he would not have supported the Congress extend the emergency declaration to allow the Trump administration to continue its repression.
