Representative Mark Green resign from Congress on July 20 after Trump Bill’s vote

Green, a Tennessee republican, previously announced his intention to resign after the vote on the “Big and Beau Bill” by President Donald Trump.

The retired officer of the US military voted in favor of the Trump spending bill, sending him to the office of the president.

After his last vote, Green posted on X to share his thoughts.

“Today was my last vote in the congress,” he wrote. “My stay here started with a fire to serve the veterans, he continued by leading the historic indictment of a secretary of the cabinet, and now he ends with the real border security. I am grateful that my last vote was for the only major bill.”

Green announced for the first time that he would retire almost a month ago, but had not clarified a date.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from Congress. Recently, I was offered an opportunity in the private sector which was too exciting to pass,” he wrote in a press release on June 9. “Consequently, I informed today the speaker and the House of Representatives that I resign from the Congress as soon as the Chamber votes again on the reconciliation package.”

“Although I had planned to retire at the end of the previous congress, I stayed to make sure that the measures and priorities of the border security of President Trump reach Congress,” he continued. “By supervising the border security part of the reconciliation package, I did it. After that, I will retire, and there will be a special election to replace me.”

Thom Tillis announces the retirement of the Senate after facing Trump

Green has been a republican president of the American House of Representatives’ internal security committee since 2023.

Before being elected at the Congress, he was senator from Tennessee representing the 22nd district, from 2013 to 2018.

In 2024, the Green representative led the effort to remove the former interior security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for high crimes and crimes. Mayorkas was successfully dismissed by the House of Representatives on February 13, 2024.
