The Texas Republican Attorney General, Ken Paxton, is launching an investigation into the manufacturer of S&M and Skittles Mars for “deceptive and illegal practices” concerning the use by the company of artificial dyes in his candies.
In a statement sent to Fox News Digital, the Paxton’s office has linked the investigation to the efforts of the Attorney General to be a “national leader in the fighting alongside” by the Secretary of Health and Social Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and President Donald Trump’s Make America Healthy Initiatives again to “help Americans become healthier by holding compatible companies that violate the law and consumers of misleading about their ingenants “.
Paxton’s office said that the false alleged statements in March of artificial dyes in some of its candies, including M&M and Skittles, constitute deceptive commercial practices that go to consumer rights in Texas.
The Attorney General also stressed that, even if Mars continues to use artificial colors in his products in the United States, he ceased to do so in Europe.

“Although we are not starting with active procedures, not all of Mars Wrigley’s ingredients are manufactured in accordance with strict quality and security regulations established by the food security authorities, including the FDA,” a spokesperson for Mars in Fox News Digital.
In 2016, Mars undertook to remove all artificial colors from all its human food products, which at the time, he said was part of a commitment to respond to the preferences of evolving consumers “.
Society said that although it believed that “artificial colors are not known for human health or safety”, that made the change because “consumers today call for food manufacturers to use more natural ingredients in their products”.
Mars said that “in this context, Mars will work in close collaboration with its suppliers to find alternatives which not only meet its strict quality and safety standards, but also to maintain the vibrant and fun colors that consumers expect beloves of the company.”
In a subsequent update, however, Mars said that he found that “many of our consumers from around the world did not actually find artificial colors to be worrying ingredients” and “for this reason, we will continue to give priority to our efforts to remove all artificial colors in Europe – where consumers have expressed this preference – but will not delete all markets.”

In Paxton’s Declaration, his office said that “March also wrongly said that” artificial colors are not known for health or human safety “, which could not be further from the truth because these dyes have been linked to a certain number of negative health results, including attention / hyperactivity deficit (ADHD), autism and even cancer.”
The press release indicates that Paxton published a request for a civil investigation to obtain documents from March as part of the investigation.
“Mars must eliminate the toxic artificial dyes from its American food products not only to honor its public commitment and ensure that it remains on the right side of the law, but also because it is the right thing to do,” PAXTON said in a statement sent to Fox News Digital.
“It is clear that the movement to eliminate the artificial dyes of our food supply makes incredible progress, and it is time for March to follow the example of other companies like Nestlé and Hershey by removing the synthetic dyes of its products”, he continued, adding, “for the health of the Texans and all the Americans, Mars must make its 2016 commitment to eliminate these toxic ingenants”.
