President Donald Trump would have worked on a decision that would give the United States a new military and economic foot in Africa, against China and Russia and puts a blow against Islamist terrorists in the region. And now, a leading senator has told Fox News Digital, this objective can be achieved by recognizing the Somaliland escaped as an independent state.
The Somaliland, on the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden, separated from Somalia in 1991. Its government offered the United States a new air and sea base near the entrance to the Red Sea, and directly in front of Yemen and Houthis, if the United States officially recognizes it, 30% of the traffic of the world’s contested ships.
In the oval office on August 8, Trump told journalists: “We are examining this right now”, when he was asked for the recognition of the Somaliland and the possible resettlement of the Gazans, adding: “We are working on it at the moment, Somaliland”.

The president of the Senate’s foreign relations subcommittee on Africa, Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas., Told Fox News Digital: “There is a very real opportunity that President Trump recognizes Somaliland during this administration.”
Cruz added: “President Trump brings a new era of clarity in American national security, after four years of the Biden administration rewarding our enemies and punishing our allies, and the recognition of Somaliland should be part of this new era.
“Somaliland has been a reliable ally for the United States, fits into us and our allies around the world, and is committed to helping us counter China’s efforts to undermine the safety and prosperity of the Americans,” he said.
The White House did not respond to a request for digital comments from Fox News.

But the 99% Muslim Somaliland, would have eliminated radicalism and aligned itself with the United States and Israel, which led Cruz to say to Fox News Digital: “They are a Muslim country, in a very dangerous part of Africa, showing real courage. I will continue to push to deepen the American-Somaliland partnership, including through Africa in the Senate, receptive to do so.

Earlier this month, Cruz wrote to President Trump on Somaliland, declaring: “This requires the status of a state. I urge you to grant him this recognition.”
The president of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, is optimistic, saying to the newspaper of the British Guardian on May 30, “recognition is on the horizon”. He added: “It’s a matter of time. Not so, but when”.
The port of Somaliland in Berbera is the jewel of any Washington agreement. Analysts say it is in such a strategic position that Russia and China tried to acquire it. Right next to it, there is one of the five longer tracks in Africa, offering the United States the possibility of a sea and an air base that can strike the Houthi rebels in the north and the terrorists of Al Shabaab in the east.

In his letter to the White House, Cruz wrote: “Somaliland has become a critical security and diplomatic partner for the United States, helping America
The Gulf of Aden, putting it near one of the most popular maritime corridors in the world. It has capable armed forces and contributes to regional operations to combat terrorism and hacking. He proposed to welcome an American military presence near the Red Sea along the Gulf of Aden. “”

The largest military base in the United States in Africa is just at the top of the coast in Djibouti. But there are security and surveillance problems at the Lemonnier US base camp where the Chinese and other nations have opened their own bases and surveillance stations nearby.
Somaliland also provides access to the White House to Minerals of Rare Terres essential for high -tech industries, such as lithium and silicon quartz.
The United States has described Somalia, with a large number of agents linked to the Islamic State and Al-Qaida, such as a terrorist refuge. From now on, the growing presence of China and the military forces of countries like Turkey would lead to Washington to be increasingly unhappy with its “One Somalia” policy, where Somaliland continues to be recognized only as part of Somalia.

For the moment, a spokesperson for the State Department has declared the official position to Fox News: “The United States recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, which includes the territory of Somaliland.
