After a repeat offender was discovered on a university campus with a rifle, representative Gabe Evans, R-Colo., Criticized the Democrats of Colorado for “the devastating morale of the police” by what he described as a seat with illegal and criminals above the police and federal officials.
Ephraim Debisa, a 21 -year -old child Tanzania refugeewas arrested again last week for illegal possession of a weapon on the school field and intrusion after being arrested before for suspicion of having tried to commit a second degree murder, a first degree assault and to engage in a riot, according to the Sheriff’s Bureau of Weld.
The statement said Debisa also faced charges of threatening crime and burglary in the first degree earlier in the year.
A few weeks earlier, the Sheriff’s Office published a warning to the public that he had to release Debisa, that the office called a “potential danger for the community”, because it did not meet the competence requirements to be judged under a new Colorado law adopted under the Democratic leadership in 2024.

In the declaration, the sheriff of the county of Weld, Steve, Reams, criticized the Democratic Governor of Colorado Jared Polis and the legislature of the state controlled by Democrat, claiming that they “created a crisis” and “continued to weaken the criminal justice system by handcuffing the police, prosecutors and judges for criminals.”
“I pray that this person does not injure another innocent victim, but the public deserves to know their violent actions passed so that they can protect themselves accordingly,” said Reams.
“God helps this state,” he added.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Evans, whose district includes parts of the county of Weld, said that as a former police officer, he knows that cases like these have “an emotional and mental health toll on the cops”.
“It is simply devastating for public security in Colorado, and it is devastating for the morale of the police, because you go there, and you stop a repeated violent offender who is then released, then you must catch up with him two weeks later when he is armed with a weapon, and you know that you are going to put your life on the line to go to the instructing weapon with an armed tree, add, add, add, add, add, add, add, add Added, he just making firearms “This is also devastating for the morale of the police.”

He explained that “one of the greatest indicators of the SSPT in the application of laws is: do they feel like they are supported by their agencies and by the government?”
“When the Government of Colorado, the governor, signs laws that relaunch violent individuals in the community, the cops do not have the impression that whoever has their back,” he said.
“Over the past five years, we have seen the left double on their anti-header rhetoric, returning to the 2020 riots,” he continued. “They are at an ideological moment when they find it difficult to be able to support the police and condemn political violence when it is against conservative personalities.”
In response, Polis told Fox News Digital: “I will work with anyone to reduce crime and only pay the lips.”
“We get real results: two-digit reductions in auto flight crime, real estate crime and violent crimes. We do this by becoming hard with regard to crime, increasing criminal sanctions for crimes such as auto and investing in our police,” he said.
Polis also said that the Trump administration “retains a large part of the Federal Colorado public security funding, including funds for emergency management and the response, which, I hope, attracts the Evans representative”.

“Evans and the Republicans block the financing of public security-and now he wants to distract people from the problems he has at the Congress: launching healthy people, increasing the federal deficit, retained by the administration of public security money, and now, the … closure of the federal government,” he said.
In a letter that the Polis’s office sent to Evans and other Republicans from Colorado, representatives Lauren Boebert and Jeff Crank, the governor noted that the new law had been adopted with bipartite majorities to the test of the drug addict, but recognized having had “unforeseen consequences”.
He wrote that he “actively works with and supports district prosecutors, the police, the social services department of Colorado and the legislators” to find a solution, and that it is “always ready to consider changes if necessary, such as repair or repeal” of the law.
“The reality is that Colorado has seen reductions in crime, especially in automotive flight, real estate crime and violent crimes,” wrote Polis, while adding, “but we have to do more.”

However, according to Evans, Colorado’s law enforcement feels the effects of “gentle” Democrats on crime “and the community is under the shock of the impacts.

“Myself and some of the other members of Colorado have weighed on this, calling on the governor to repair many of these laws that he has personally signed in recent years that have made Colorado the second most dangerous state in the country,” he said.
“Denver is one of the ten main major cities in the country, and this dates back to all these laws,” said Evans. “Unfortunately, there is a lot of feeling of law application just nationally against the police. In Colorado, the Democrats have doubled on this subject.”
